Hi

I had sex with an international student (from Nigeria) and he took the condom off without telling me. I’m now worried I’ve got HIV. I’ve gone for the first lot of tests and I was given hep vaccines as a precaution, but what do you think the likelihood of me having HIV is? I’m sick with worry and I’m barely functioning.

Thanks x

The only people that can answer this question are the doctors. Is he has HIV then you have HIV if he doesn't have HIV then you don't have HIV. Do you have any symptoms?

But on the other hand, if he is under a treatment then you might not have HIV.

That is what I found: (https://www.avert.org/hiv-transmission-prevention/myths)

"Do you automatically get HIV from someone who has it?"

"No, HIV is not always passed on from someone living with HIV. There are lots of reasons why this is the case. For example, if the HIV-positive person is on effective treatment it will reduce the amount of HIV in their body.
