So finally. 12 years after joining TSR. 7 years after effectively leaving TSR. I can FINALLY justifiably post in GOGSoc.

Spoiler

Hello! I think you must have been active around the time I was doing my undergrad (2010-2014), so we may have crossed paths at some point. What are studying?

I have a PowerPoint presentation prepared, and then examiner questions. I pre-submitted my updated proposal, timeline etc. for them to look at too.

a few things to take from mine would be:
- can I complete in the timeframe?
- scientific contribution to knowledge

I'm sure I'll remember more so will update!

Also, write down every question they ask in the panel discussion bit!

My progress review went really well

And from tomorrow I'm attending a 3-day Zoom conference, so it's all go!

I did a presentation of my reading/work on my project so far, and then my internal examiner made some comments and asked me questions, and then the panel deliberated and that was that. I came away with some food for thought and advice, so it was good.

My chair (who is also my personal tutor) had never chaired a meeting before, so it was quite nice to do it with someone else who also was new to it all!

*sigh* I uploaded my conference poster & video onto the conference platform on Friday, and my account immediately got disabled for 'spam'. It took the whole day for my account to be reinstated, only for my poster/video to still be flagged as spam and isn't publicly viewable. I'm meant to be presenting on Wednesday (with the first day of the conference being tomorrow), so I'm not best pleased.

The conference platform is run by a company in the USA, so talking to someone about it means waiting due to the time difference. Apparently I'm not the only one affected, as they've made their spam filter extra sensitive recently. :frown:

It seems like other people are being randomly flagged, and some people are getting through fine. It's very confusing. Fingers crossed they get it sorted, but if they don't, I'm still putting this on my CV!

Panic over. Turns out the platform had turned off the spam filter for NEW projects, but all the old ones were still flagged. I just had to make a new project, and I was able to set it as public straight away. :facepalm2: Very frustrating that they didn't just suggest that to begin with, but at least I know my poster will actually be seen now!

That's awesome! Did you enjoy it? Was the feedback helpful?

It really was. A lot of it verbalised what I was already thinking, and helped me scale down my project (I think I was trying to cover two PhD projects worth of stuff)!

That's awesome! I got similar feedback, they phrased it 'I was trying to change the world' in that I had too much methodology! Makes my life easier

@Anndee Did I read something about Norway? :eek2:

(I need to decide whether to defer moving to Norway this year or not). I don't really have anything to do this year if I do defer but I also don't want to risk being stuck abroad if there's a second wave. Grumble.
