I'm doing my first conference oral presentation tomorrow (over Teams) - actually looking forward to it, apart from my webcam has been playing up a lot recently and sometimes decides to work at my end but nobody else's.

Good luck - crossing my fingers for the technology (as I've no doubt the presentation itself will be fab :awesome: ) :yep:

Turns out my webcam decided to behave today, so I managed to get through my talk with no technical issues!

I was really pleased with it, and I even won the best oral presentation award! If I'd told myself ten years ago (when I was ridiculously shy and nervous) that I would win an award for public speaking, I never would have believed it!

Wow that's amazing, well done! I used to get scared of public speaking too, but now I have to do it on a semi-regular basis for my work

Good, I hope teaching opportunities come up for me eventually - that's the biggest gap in my CV academia-wise.

I'm doing well, just about to start planning my methods. Quite a few things have landed in my lap too - I've volunteered to course rep, started reviewing for a journal, and biggest of all, won a grant as well! So chuffed about that!

It was one of those things I quickly applied for then forgot about, so it was a lovely surprise! I've applied for two other grants previously and never heard a peep afterwards, so I presumed that I'd never get awarded anything!
