If Kovacic starts with Jorginho then we’ll be fine but we’re screwed if not imo. Sheffield are a very physical team and they are good defensively. Yeah Jorginho helped us keep control of the ball when he came on against Palace but we also created zero chances with him on the pitch and were carved open a few moments with Jorginho not doing enough defensively. That Zouma last tackle for instance, loads are blaming Christensen for leaving Benteke but really Jorginho was to blame. Andreas went to cover the player on the wing after Reece lost possession but Jorginho had no awareness of what was going on at all.

We are gonna need a lot of luck tbh especially as I suspect Rudiger will come back into the team

We didn't create chances because the aim of the game was not to score more goals and to actually prevent counters, hard to do both, it was much more end to end before Jorginho came on and that's the last thing you want with our team when we are holding a lead when you consider how bad we are defensively.

I'm more annoyed at how Christensen was skinned 1 vs 1 vs Ayew I believe which was what led to the chance. Zouma's last ditch tackles are the stuff of wet dreams though. Frustrating for various reasons Zouma but he has qualities that are useful to the side. I'm more willing to give Zouma a chance than Rudiger as he's younger but still.

Also why Declan Rice at CB when we could have just got Ake for a fraction of the price and we have Tomori for that role who is a similar age? It doesn't make sense to me, unless we are probably getting rid of Jorginho.

That may be so but we were still getting carved open. We held on the ball for a bit and then Palace had like 3 good chances after all that.

Christensen wasn’t skinned for that last chance. It was all on Reece losing the ball and Christensen going to cover Meyer on the wing which left Benteke open to go on goal (and Jorginho just watching).

Christensen did get turned over by Ayew or PVA for Benteke’s equaliser and tbh that was just as bad. Sometimes I think he should’ve stayed as DM, think he used to play both positions in the youth team.

I think Rice and Havertz will come in and Jorginho and Barkley will leave. Maybe Frank hasn’t been impressed with Ake because we were linked to him for a while but nothing anymore. Can’t even say Rice is preferred for versatility because Ake can also play LB and DM. Maybe height but Rice doesn’t seem that tall and Ake has a big leap on him.

Zouma is our best defending CB but sadly he’s the only one I ever read about potentially getting sold. Probably because he’s the one who would command a higher fee? There’s rumours that Rudiger will be entering into talks about renewing his contract soon fml.

I don't think the West Ham game was a blip tbh. We scored 2 goals there but were a shambles defensively. I think we were just lucky with the Palace game. Could very easily have been the same story.

Sorry I meant the benteke goal not the chance where Zouma did the last ditch tackle.

Yeah rice and havertz for Barkley and Jorginho is a good swap. Considering how Frank is playing Barkley does he really want him to leave or is he just trying to get the best out of him and the team?

Considering RLCs injury and him commanding low value due to that no way is he leaving. I do fear for him if havertz comes in, although if Frank is competing on all fronts RLC will get the game time he deserves.

Personally would sell all the CBs bar Tomori if I had my way as they've all had multiple seasons at Chelsea to prove themselves which they haven't consistently but that's me.

We'll make top 4 anyway so I don't care anyway. hopefully City's ban is upheld but if not we should aim for 3rd regardless.

We got 72 points last season with Hazard and we're on track for 67 points. so without Hazard who made 50% of our goals last season we lost 5 points. that's pretty good going.

Pulisic is showing his quality finally but I wish he didn't fade out of games. he's a player though and I'm impressed with his form after the break. I wish Hudson Odoi got a chance but I understand fully why Lamps doesn't use him in a crunch period

I think he’s playing Barkley due to not having any other options and also to get buyers for him. He clearly wants to go with two attacking 8s in midfield and that only leaves Mount and Barkley but in future RLC will be taking Barkley’s place. He’s just levels above and you can tell Frank rates him highly and will give him a chance.

I’d actually start Ruben against Sheffield and play him for 60 minutes. Think CHO will start against Norwich. Willian/Pulisic will need a break at some point otherwise we’ll end up with another injury on our hands.

Been confirmed Gilmour out for 3-4 months which is a shame for him. You don’t wanna be out injured at the start of the season with new players coming in and the likes of Ampadu returning from loan.

Get this PE teacher out of your club and bring Mourinho in

Reply 207

Fair play to Sheffield United but god we are terrible. We need to forget the Havertz move and spend the money on an entire new defence, it’s an absolute shambles

Reply 208

Tbh I saw that coming. Sheffield are just way too strong defensively and slightly decent in attack which is all you need to be against our defence.

We conceded 3 goals but can say Kepa wasn’t at fault. Our players are just poor. From Jorginho sitting in and Mount not booting the ball away and trying to dribble out of our own box which ultimately led to their first goal and just set the rest of the result up tbh. Christensen poor again and gets subbed for Rudiger who then does a massive blunder for the 3rd goal.

I did find it hilarious how immediately after Frank switched to a back 4 again we conceded a goal. If we weren’t playing relegated Norwich next I’d expect Frank to sticks to 3CBs. He’ll definitely do that against all the other teams we’ve got left though (he should)

If Norwich decide to just have a go now they’re down we’ll probably lose tbh

Nah I’m not having that lmao. It will probably be a repeat of our first game earlier in the season and be a good goal fest but we have to score more than them surely? They don’t have it in them to organised whatsoever.

Also time for RLC and CHO to start. They won’t gain match fitness by playing 15 minutes. Barkley is **** and Willian/Pulisic are being overworked at this point.

Reply 211

If we lose to Norwich we deserve to go down with them.

Reply 212

we'll smack Norwich they're trash.

Reply 213

Bournemouth have done us a solid. Just as well too given how they always turn up like Real Madrid when playing us but fold for all the other big teams.

Doubt United will drop any points tomorrow but you never know. To still be on top 4 with three games remaining is a positive especially with the two teams we are competing with still to play each other.

Well top 4 has become tasty! Unsurprising that Man City had their 2 year CL ban lifted.

Everyone seems to be all over the place with results for finishing top 4 and Leicester play Man Utd and Chelsea play Wolves in the final set of games.

The scenes if Wolves were to beat you on the last game to jump ahead of you..

There’s a potential farce that could occur on the final day if Man United and Leicester were to win their remaining games and Chelsea lose at Anfield.

In that scenario a draw at the King Power on the final day will guarantee United finish 3rd and Leicester finish 4th (on goal difference) even if Chelsea beat Wolves, providing they don’t beat them by about 20 goals!

Leicester 0-0 Man United FT. Chelsea fans spontaneously combust in rage!

Make sure you beat Southampton mate.

Leicester got the hardest set of fixtures anyway so I'm confident just getting 4 points will be enough to secure top 4. if we can't get that in our final 3 games we don't deserve top 4 anyway
