I think I've been surprised how willing other clubs have been to buy the young players for high/substantial fees. I guess in the modern world, there is so much more scouting and data so people know who has good potential.
Or maybe some clubs just are doing lucky dip on Chelsea having bought the best youngsters? I wonder if you could sign a dud fake player and still sell for a huge fee to an unsuspecting club

I think a lot of clubs view the player as a full financial package including wages and appreciation.

There's a reason sterling couldn't be shifted but someone like Jackson can easily e.g.

I think we've looked at Dortmund/Leipzig/Brighton and have implemented their transfer model but we can keep hold of our best players.

If we buy lowish enough we can flip the player. Dewsbury hall e.g. could have easily gone for 40-50M in this market after the promotion but we bought him low on low wages, so even though he wasn't fantastic for us we made fair value on him as he wasn't old, proven premier league player and was always going to do a good job at a bottom half club.

I imagine the big thing is that you're buying young so other clubs know they can flip anyone they buy. Clubs probably assume that being at Chelsea means you've had some world class training for a few years too.
