Trying to be positive about the Chilwell situation but it’s so hard to do so when watching a player like Reguilon absolutely bossing it against Wolves and now against United and knowing that he’s gonna cost like €25million. He seems better than Chilwell and costs way less than the £60million that Leicester are demanding. Marina needs to speak sense into Lampard ffs

Instead we're going to buy a player who only started playing at CB a few months ago.

Ter Stegen signed a new contract last month supposedly so he’s staying.

Messi should leave Barca though. Just go and do something else. Different challenge but not to us (not that he’d come anyway 🤣) It would be like going back to the Hazard days where we’re relying on one player and everything going through him. I’m more looking forward to seeing us attack on all fronts.

Honestly if we're focusing on such *****y centre back signings I'd rather ****ing play rudiger and Christensen all season and we just use the saved money on securing havertz.

I don't think Ter Stegen has signed a new contract. It's due to expire in 2022 so I think there is some pressure to get him to renew.

I think Lewis Dunk could be a shrewd signing like Cahill signing but not overly impressed with the rumoured cost. British players are just unnecessarily expensive now.

Rumours just started about Thiago Silva coming on a free transfer and honestly that would be the best solution for us this summer and I know we spoke of it previously. We can tie up Havertz, LB and sort out the GK situation (Kepa on loan or someone like Ben Foster coming in to compete with him) and then next summer go for a world class CB.

Swear I read recently that he extended till 2025 but could be wrong

Signing isn't shrewd if we pay £40M for a guy who hasn't proved himself. Barkley as much as I dislike him would be more of a Shrewd signing.

Silva would be amazing, same for Jerome Boateng. A player like that who's in their early 30s that's been there done that even for a year would be enough until we find a longer term solution. Personally don't get why we don't just play Tomori anyway.

Nah Barkley would just be a cheap signing. He’s ****. Dunk actually seems like a good defender who just plays in a **** team but yeah the price is definitely a sticking point.

Tomori wasn’t ready and was too raw at times so maybe Lampard was trying to protect him but yeah in hindsight, playing him last season when it became apparent that our defence was **** might have been better as he could’ve got experience and hopefully ironed out the individual errors he makes in time for next season.

As it is, he hasn’t had enough game time and Lampard doesn’t trust him so it’s looking like a loan move whilst we bring someone else in otherwise he just won’t play again.

Ampadu seems to be rejecting a loan move and wants to stay and fight for his place. He’s probably seen the state of our defence and DM options and thought why not? Lol. It’s a shame he’s had injuries issues and hasn’t played much because I feel like we wouldn’t even be looking at Declan Rice. They are more or less the same player but Rice is ahead at this time due to experience.

Zouma and Christensen looked godly at Everton and Gladbach, playing in a *****er team doesn't translate to a stronger team. Van Dijk is more obvious and Maguire had experience in the back 3 for England at world cup so it was clear they'd be successful signings even at high price tags.

Honestly we're wasting our time with defence if we don't just get Thiago Silva on a free and tell every other defender not named Zouma or Tomori to **** right off. Tomori had some bad moments but **** me how many bad moments did the other defenders(zouma included) have? Tomori was definitely scapegoated but was the heart of our best run. Tune changed when we got beat by City (the best attacking side in the league)away and Lampard telling us to play out the ****ing back against the best pressing team in the league. Interesting that he learn from this in the second fixture and told us to hit it long to Abraham to bypass the press.

Ampadu should probably leave because he's not going to get a look in unless we fail to buy Rice.

Look at Inter buying Godin and becoming an elite defence overnight and we're trying to buy Lewis Dunk overnight ffs because we've used the entire budget on attackers. We should also learn from City this season that not sorting out your CB situation means you're far away from the title too. I see why Conte was pissed that our answer to strengthening the defence was rudiger.

Imo Maguire at £80 million is worse than Dunk at £40million. Maguire can head the ball and occasionally goes on a run with the ball. He’s not special at all. And this is not me even saying I want Dunk. I just don’t think it would be the worst signing. It was probably a ******** rumour anyway. None of the credible journalists connected to Chelsea have mentioned him and the priority has always seemed to be Rice.

Don’t think Tomori was scapegoated (that was Kepa) but he also had more brain farts than most people remember because during that good run Zouma covered for him a lot. His speed makes up for a lot of positional issues but there were a few bad back passes that could’ve resulted in goals and he seems to lose concentration a fair bit. Also have to remember he was injured for a while so it’s not just a case of being frozen out.

Looks like Chilwell is coming for £50M. Tbh considering his age and being british its not the worst in the world. He's better than our current options(Emerson clearly not suited to this league and Alonso is a wingback not a fullback).

Not special but their defence has clearly improved. Also heading the ball and being able to play the ball is literally the thing that all of our centre backs are unable to do. They can do one of the two well but not both. Obviously he has other drawbacks like his pace, last thing I want is a snail in our team because that just means we're going to get exposed on counters as Lamps is never going to do the Mourinho style football over a season, he'd obviously do it in individual matches like vs City e.g. but overall wouldn't do it over the season.

Zouma also had dodgy moments, like the Everton 3-1 loss e.g. where he was busy kicking the ball to oblivion(him and Christensen) so it's not like Zouma's perfect either, he's just better defensively overall than the rest of the jokes.

Anyway I don't care Lampard buying a defensive midfielder for 70M so he can play him at CB is our way of conceding more goals next season. I wouldn't mind Rice for that role if we bring in Silva like is being reported but then 2 CBs have to go. Loan out Tomori and sell Rudiger imo but genuinely all 4 of our CBs can go permanently if we are buying proper defenders. Kanté staying fit this season is more important than ever too.
