Is it some sort of spiritual bondage that Callum has on Bayern?? Can’t believe they are twerking for him again even after getting Sane.

CHO not pushing it this time though. If the club sells him then it’s on them and he will inevitably come back to bite us in the ass like DeBruyne and Salah.

CHO doesnt have the mentality to become world class, ever since he got the contract he has been terrible
I wouldnt mind if chelsea sold CHO

Lol ********.

CHO is being played at RW and his best position is at LW.

He gets dropped and I understand Pulisic playing over him on the left wing but Mason Mount, that's a pisstake.

So did Mount, so did Emerson, so did many other players. Bad logic.

Hudson Odoi was the main reason we came back from 3-0 down to West Brom because he can provide width and direct running which with Ziyech and Pulisic out nobody else offers. Werner literally is floating around anywhere that's not left wing, Havertz is also floating as an AM, lets not speak about Mount on the wing, that's not it.

When we have an injury prone winger in Pulisic I think it's a foolish decision to get rid of a young promising winger. Lampard's already figured this out and has stopped his fetish for playing Mount at all times even if in an unsuited position.

And Mount didn’t? He also could’ve passed the ball to Werner for an easy goal and he messed it up. Could easily say Emerson was to blame as well because he could’ve marked Lamela better for the Spurs goal. We were ahead and if we keep a clean sheet then we progress to the next round. It’s a team game, so many things could’ve been done differently to make sure we progressed but CHO wasn’t solely to blame for that not to happen.

The guy is 19 yrs old, playing out of his favourite position but you can still see the talent is there and he’s even starting to put in all that off-the-ball work Lampard has been demanding.

There’s a reason why a club like Bayern are coming in again with a loan offer and option to buy for £70 million. If they change it to obligation to buy I think the club might just accept. It’s a lot of money to turn down for what is essentially a bench player for us atm even though he’ll develop into a star.

Annoying if we sell him tbh because you know he's going to be a world class player at Bayern.

Look at United with Greenwood e.g. or the mistake City have made with Sancho or Gnabry with Arsenal, or even Coman at Juventus. I guess the club gotta balance the books somehow but I'd also say this is on Frank for not actually playing him when he had chances to use him throughout last season but he'd rather just use Willian or Mount on the wing. This season he's also done CHO dirty too. So that gives Bayern confidence to get him.

He's only now figured that Hudson Odoi offers something that other players don't. I like Pulisic now but if he's got a record of muscular injuries why are we banking on him being fit?

I'd rather sell Loftus Cheek or Abraham than sell Hudson Odoi imo. Do you not think losing two of our experienced wingers and only having 2 actual wingers for the two wing positions is a good idea in any way shape or form? I like the fact it took Lampard to be 3 goals down to West Brom to think 'oh ****, we could do with some width and pace here.'

Btw I think Hudson Odoi will stay.

Yea I don't really get the Bayern obsession with CHO. With Sane, you knew he was quality and showed it at Man City, will probably suit how Bayern like to play + is German heritage/plays for German national side and Bayern like to have all the best German players.

Yeah I agree I think he will stay but if he does go we’ve only got Lampard to blame, same as we will have blamed Sarri in 2018.

It does seem like Lampard has seen the light but in fairness Callum has looked fitter and is really trying to track back and do the right things for team so maybe Lampard’s management has worked. Also rumours that Callum has been or will be hiring a personal trainer and football pitch to do extra work outside of the club training sessions so I find it annoying when he gets labelled as lazy or has attitude problems.

If he were to be sold I think we would probably go for Benhrama because the Championship window closes later but in a season where we already have a lot of new players trying to settle and gel, it makes no sense to get rid of a player who’s already been working in the system and improving to bring another unknown into the equation.

So transfer window shut. Did all our business early so wasn’t much to get excited about tbh. Chelsea rejected some Tomori loan offers last week on the expectations that Rudiger would leave but Rudiger refused to join West Ham so we’re stuck with 5 CBs all vying for playing time until January.

Ruben joined Fulham. 50/50 on it personally. I think a loan was the best move for him as he needs a lot of gametime which he won’t get here and he’s a guaranteed starter at Fulham but Fulham are so **** and will be fighting relegation. Hope it’s not like Tammy’s loan at Swansea where he wasn’t able to demonstrate his ability at all because the team was so bad. Feel like he could’ve benefited more from a team like Southampton or West Ham. Slightly better quality around him and can learn from better coaching setups.

Barkley looks like he’s gonna have fun and get to showcase himself playing with Grealish at Villa. We might actually be able to get £40million+ for him at the end of the season 😁

Yeah good with the Barkley loan.

I think RLC might be able to help that Fulham side in any case.

I'm very pissed off that we twerked for Rice while Arsenal have got Thomas Partey.

Also find this amusing when people say that Kanté is only a defensive midfielder, this is an excerpt from early on in the 2016-17 season when we started playing 3-4-3 "As an all-round box-to-box midfield pairing, they are the best combination in the Premier League and their ability helps Antonio Conte's system work so successfully. "

It's also interesting that Matic used to be pretty box to box back in the day, Mourinho turned him into a pure DM because we had Fabregas in the side which is fair enough.

Word on the ground is we seriously considered activating Partey’s release clause and have been monitoring him since 2018 but as we couldn’t sell Jorginho or Rudiger that meant we couldn’t buy him.

Tbh it’s obvious Lampard’s heart is set on Rice and he’ll be joining us next summer. If Lampard had really wanted Partey then the release clause would’ve been activated regardless.

Kante is not a pure DM. Did the Makelele comparisons start just because it was a black, short midfielder with loads of energy that had signed for Chelsea as well because they are not similar at all now looking back.

With that said, I’m sure as we are short of options for that role at the moment, Kante can be instructed to just sit. Jorginho did very well against Palace and he will be useful against teams that play that way but we’ll get destroyed against better teams with Jorginho there.

Reece James and Christensen also very good options imo.

We had a big issue with defending. We conceded 54 goals last season lmao so we probably should have sorted out DM.

I get that when those quality attacking players are at that price you go for it. Also we relied too much on Pulisic who is injury prone and Willian+Pedro left so we did need to replace them.

I hope our having quality attacking players means that we just blow teams out anyway.

Going to try and do a Man City?

Reply 615

For all the jokes about Pep, I think Man City were organised tactically in a way that just strangled the life out of teams offfensively meaning their defence wasnt necessarily needed so much. And they had Kompany/Ederson.

I'm not sure Lampard/Chelsea will be capable of the same trick. Some great attackers though so if they click you can definitely get 3rd but it might be a scrap for 4th if not.

Reply 616

Their hyper possession and then being able to stop counter attacks killed opposition teams.

You don't mind not having the ball if you can get a few counters but when your counter opportunities are always ruined or you are on the end of an Ederson wonder save you can't help but feel defeated. That's what City used to do.

This is where Thiago Silva is key, even if Lampard is fraudulent Di Matteo got us performing defensively because our experienced players just did their jobs. Silva and Zouma looks to be a strong pairing. Reckon personnel changes was equally as important as the system.

Frank playing 4-2-3-1 probably to protect the fullbacks when they go forward too, we look a bit disjointed when attacking in this formation but so far we've not had a bad start to the season. Bar West Brom we've won all the games we were supposed to win with a depleted squad.

Btw can we loan Hazard for a few months if Pulisic carries on being injured?

Reply 617

Just seen that Mourinho tried to sign Messi in 2014 but his father blocked it.

Man Hazard + Messi could have been a sight to behold.

I guess he ended up having Suarez + Neymar so the right decision was made for him imo but still pretty neat.

Reply 618

Finally league is back. Why international games haven’t been cancelled this season with this congested fixture list is beyond me.

We could also potentially see Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner and Havertz all playing together for the first time. Exciting times. Can’t afford any slip ups against teams like Southampton like we did last season. 3 points are a must.

Reply 619

if I was Hudson Odoi I'd actually leave right now.

How Pulisic gets into the team straight away and mount manages to get into the team again I dunno.

Havertz seems to do well on the wing for Germany so no idea why he doesn't look good here. I'd put him out left and Mount in the middle ideally.

Also I guess Tomori staying and fighting for a place clearly ain't working well. I guess Zouma is an automatic starter which makes sense.
