I guess if he wins the CL this season, he will get more time and buy-in. Squad is pretty stacked so he can't really complain but the Chelsea board always buy whoever they want rather than who the manager would want.

Yeah that's the only issue.

Also Chelsea have money and have players that can be sold.

How did you guys mug off Real Madrid for so much money for Hazard?

Coutinho's sale was a much much worse mugging off than Hazard.

Hazard is a superb player he just wants to live that life where he eats like a pig an doesnt train at all. Reckon he'll snap back soonish

Although Real/Barca do not seem to buy well, at all.

Coutinho was 25 when he moved and had just signed a 5 year contract the year before. Barcelona had also just lost Neymar for a world record fee so their board needed to sign any big name to try and save face.

Hazard was 28 with a year left on his contract.

Or you could just use your eyes and look at them on the pitch...

Hazard was exceptional, had an aura around him.

Coutinho nothing special, dozens of players like him in Europe.

Yeah its as simple as this.

Eye test works. Coutinho could shift his weight and curl in top corner.

Hazard could do that, get past players on the inside and the outside with pace, he could pass, he could control the play.

Dude still manages to be underrated to this day, if Kanté didn't exist, Hazard would be by far the best player to ever play for Chelsea.

But Kanté bossed Madrid twice without having a sip of water or food the entire day.

Mkhitaryan and Mata were better players than Coutinho ever was e.g. Foden already is as good as Coutinho.

Like I've got nothing better to do that watch Chelsea play..

So far I'd say Hazard has been a bigger flop for Madrid than Coutinho for Barca.

Yes Kante was exceptional, an all time classic performance. But its not unexpected with him which makes me astounded that some quarters of Chelsea football twitter was giving him a hard time under Lamport. Thought azpi also terrific

Mkataryan a great shout for a better option to coutinho, agree completely .

Well Coutinho came on as a sub in the final and had 11 appearances in the CL for Bayern that season.

Pleased that Lukaku has spearheaded Inter's charge to (about to) win Serie A?

Tbh Pep threw the game, he wanted to win but it wasn't that serious for him considering the line up he started with and considering that he played with one midfielder for about 60mins. He wanted to try a new formation and see if it worked.

I don't particularly rate City like others do (realistically PSG lost their heads plus Mbappe was out for the second leg and that's why City went through) but it goes to show that if you have a gameplan and your players are mentally focused better you can beat teams if you have the quality of players.

The quality of players in the Chelsea team was never in doubt start of the season, I'm just pleased we don't have Willian starting any more man, that was depressing. I think the defence improving was always going to happen with Silva coming into the team but I'm impressed that people have stepped up in his absence. Zouma(who times his challenges perfectly) and Rudiger(who is great at stepping up with the ball into midfield) especially. It just needed time to gel, and I don't think the money spent on players reflects the fact that we sold Pedro, Willian, loaned out Barkley, and changed nearly half of our starting 11 from last season with our new signings.

The pundits saying Chelsea should go for Aguero if he is free should shoot themselves. Guys done as a player, people hate on Werner's finishing and it's frustrating but this guy's ability to make runs, get into good areas and drag defenders has been vital to us, same thing goes with Havertz. It's brought a new dimension to our play so now we can score in other ways than hold the ball and cross to Giroud(and we still have that option if we do want it).

I think one of Giroud or Abraham is leaving, I'd prefer Giroud to leave but if Abraham goes and that gives space for a top striker ready to do that, if Giroud goes and we get a shrewd signing(not Aguero) I'm happy too. I would say I'd love Kane but his ankles and the subsequent change in our style of play does not fit us. The idea of a rotating front 3 with speed is something that Pep has been doing all season and it's got him to a CL final, we've also done the same, I think people need to get it out of their heads that the sole job of a striker is to score goals.

Liverpool have not used a proper striker for over 4 years. However obviously if we could get Lewandowski or Haaland who can play the counter attack style and link up play too I'm not going to complain.

We were missing Havertz (probably our best attacker in form), our best defender in Silva, and a wing back that's not named Alonso. Although thanks for the goal.

Werner is frustrating to watch. I've said all season to people who ask why he keeps starting, that his runs and creativity do enough work to grant a place in the starting lineup. But at this point, Ive had enough with even that. Theres only so many missed 1 on 1 chances I can watch. Theres only so many offside goals a player can score in a single game. At this point, I don't celebrate when he puts the ball into the back of the net because I already know the flag is up. It's just fundamentals for a forward. I can't deny his playmaking abilities from runs are exceptional though. That's the only thing saving him.

If we're going to have a benched striker, I'd rather Giroud over Abraham. Statistically, and even stylistically, he'll have a bigger impact than Tammy off the bench.

Aguero saved our points. He almost did enough to screw up Sterlings goal aswell but alas.

I would love for you guys to spunk £250k a week on Aguero but I just don’t think you’re stupid enough as a club to do it anymore now that strikers aren’t an Abramovic vanity project.

Werner will be hitting 20+ with ease next season. He’d hit 30+ if he could grasp how to remain vaguely onside.

Central midfield looks to be the only upgrade available for you guys, as Silva seems to have sorted out making your defence calmer.

Reply 999

Issue is there's straight up no upgrade in the world for Kanté, Jorginho well that's something else, Kovacic does his role well too. I think they're performing like how I thought they would perform under Sarri.

I'd genuinely see if I can use Loftus Cheek there, but the central midfield positions at most is suffering from a lack of depth than a lack of quality. Gilmour did well against City and has proven himself so far last season and now against City, so maybe we don't need anybody here.

Not much difference between e.g. Rodri and Jorginho, I guess Kovacic could potentially be upgraded, can't think of anyone in the PL that is available. Would love to have Pogba there next to Kanté.

Can we sell Barkley please, dude is trash. Bakayoko should be going in a year or so on a free probably. Barkley has 2 years left so ideally sell this summer.

Looks like Tomori's been doing well at AC Milan but we have too many defenders, I'd swap for Christensen if I could as he's got more pace but that's neither here or there.

Keep Thiago Silva ofc and that's it. We might not need a striker but if Haaland can come for cheap that's great. Sancho rumours sound cool but unless we're selling Ziyech or CHO(which I don't think we should) then why do we need him?
