Sell Jorginho. I've had enough watching him and he's lost his only ability now

Yeah pretty much Gilmour literally does the same thing. Easy 40M and can be used as the Tomori fund.

Also know Rudiger wants to go to Madrid but we might be able to convince him to stay.

**** the UK government man.

This makes Arsenal transfer committee horny, Chelsea cast offs.

Does the same thing but is more defensively sound. I don't really see much downside. We should get some decent money for Jorginho aswell provided they don't watch him play. Being a pen merchant, euros and CL under his belt should all inflate his price.

Rudiger situation depends on how quickly we get a buyer and sort the club out. If it's left too long, I can see him leaving and avoiding the hassle.

Take him he'd be a great xhaka replacement

All Real Madrid have is Benzema (and arguably Vinicius' pace).

We'd have won the title by now if we had someone that could finish half-chances like that.

pretty much.

Instead we got a donkey. Thing about benzema is his pace and decision making is out of this world. He controls the play and everything but pops up in the right spots all the time. He plays at such a speed, which means guys like Vinicius can do a run and knows that he'll still get to the end of it. Elite guy man.

Vinicius is pretty good too, I think Mount, Werner and Havertz realistically are the best front 3 in all honesty, we miss Hudson Odoi as well due to his crossing ability. Also what is it with Serie A and making strikers who play like donkeys have a first touch? Tammy Abraham turning into a complete striker overnight thinking he's Henry?

Broja is solid though.

That's interesting because for me it's Benzema's positioning that's second to none. He's got pace but he just always holds that perfect position and knows exactly where he needs to be or when he needs to arrive. It's like every pass that comes through to him is an instant threat of being converted. The finishing helps but defenders just can't mark him. Have to say, he had balls going for that panenka. If he missed he might as well have kissed the ballandor goodbye. Don't think Real would've been able to come back from 2 goals down against City aswell. Still think City will win the tie in Madrid anyway.

Yeah serie A has always been good for that. Abraham used to be such a 'form' player. If he had good momentum, he'd score goals for fun against teams back-to-back.

I'm not convinced by Broja yet. He has decent underlying numbers but whenever I watch him, he just really needs to work on putting chances away.

I think that's the crazy thing, that Benzema's positioning is so good too. He's got the poachers instinct, the speed but also has the link up/hold up play of Giroud. Benzema is essentially Havertz but add +3 to every stat(FM terms).

Funny enough, people talk about City having no striker but their positioning and off the ball movement in the box as a unit(De Bruyne/Sterling/Foden/Jesus/Mahrez/Gundogan) is so good that one good ball in and they're in. I think looking at City vs Chelsea, that's the difference between us. the quality of the ball coming in and the players ability to get on the end of it, takes 2 to tango. Real do have individuals like Mendy/Vinicius/Modric/Kroos who can put it on a plate while we don't but systematically they're awful while we have a good system. I think there was one part of the match when Benzema took the corner(Madrid 2-0 down), did a 1-2 then put in a delicious ball.

I think the thing about Broja is that he can score goals, has a good touch, can hold the ball, has pace and causes trouble. I'm happy with Havertz though and think we should spend more time focusing on patterns of play, CB replacements and wingback cover over more buying strikers not named Haaland/Mbappe/Lewandowski/Benzema.

Kounde is twerking to join us tho and Tuchel should be allowed to buy the players he wants, although I would be going all in for Tomori right now because Rudiger is leaving, he knows the club and knows effectively all the players in that squad. We need two CBs at least so no reason why we can't buy both.

Tammy Abraham has said the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Romelu Lukaku helped inspire him to leave Chelsea in the pursuit of regular first-team football.

Athletic reader I see.

Also seems like Jim Ratcliffe put in a bid, I think he cares about the club as a fan and has skin in the game purchasing nice, he'd be my preferred option, there are sporting people in the other groups so I'm sure they'd make a good decision too. Overall I think we might end up better for this.

Realistically Tuchel wont have any issues with making top 4 every year and probably will title challenge if we give him the funds.

Also, Pogba starting to seem like an attractive option if the wages aren't ridiculous, although he seems more likely to sign PSG deal or a mega contract at United.

Part of our issue in midfield is progressive passing, and it's no coincidence that since Fabregas left we've been nowhere near a title challenge, we negated that a bit with our wingbacks but they can't be our sole source of creating chances. If that's the case then we should be playing Hudson Odoi there.

Pogba (with an attitude check and a humble wage) instead of Jorginho in midfield is the stuff of my dreams

Also fully expect Tuchel to bench Kai and Timo tommorrow after that performance and his comments.

Would recommend The Athletic to anyone. It's a fantastic read and the writers are brilliant. I did get my latest subsciption for £1 a month for 6 months :dice:

Yeah good to see that's sorted.

I hope Christensen still leaves anyway but I think Tuchel will keep him as it saves us having to buy an extra defender in the transfer market. Tbh I think Christensen usually is fine as the middle CB but Silva plays there and he's better.

Now the club can focus on signings and giving Tuchel what he wants. Frankly more than another forward who will misfire due to not being suited to our system we need to focus on replacing rudiger and getting a progressive midfielder. I would like Rice, but these French midfielders are something else. Pogba on a free is enticing but not paying him man united wages, hear good things about Tchouameni but not seen him play. We've missed Fabregas in the side, to the point that Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been doing his job. Also Hazard clearly hasn't been replaced, even if the general standard of wingers in the side is better than it was back in 2018.

Man United like to complain about the lack of defensive awareness of Pogba in a 2 but we made it work with Fabregas who's equally as bad there, also Jorginho plays there for us currently lmao.

Yeah we'll need Christensen for rotation.

Definitely agree that that Pogba would be an upgrade for Jorginho but I just can't see the club getting rid of him unfortunately which is a shame because I feel a Kante-Pogba pairing would be nuts.

I do think we need a clinical striker though. The number of wasted chances every game is just painful to watch. We've got a fair amount of creativity and can dominate teams but the final product is just missing. Yes Havertz has been developing and he can probably fill that role again for another season but I feel we've needed a clinical striker since the Costa days. Realistically I can't see us competing with City for the title unless we get that position sorted (and ofc CB). We'll lose points from games we should've put to bed like this season.

Pep got sterling scoring 20 a season and he's Werner level in terms of finishing, what we need to improve on imo is creating clear chances. I think that's partially a coaching issue but also a player issue.

I wouldn't call any of Man City's attackers clinical but look at where they are right now. If I'm being honest, we miss hazard more than we miss a striker. A player who can create space for others because they're triple marked every game.

Our chance creation came from dynamic wingbacks who then got injured. We don't want a single source of failure for chance creation. That's where Pogba/Pogba like player comes in.
