Hi guys, congrats on getting an offer 🙌🏻

I am a 2nd year medic at Cardiff University so I'm super happy to answer any questions you have!
Really excited to hopefully be going to Cardiff next year if I get the grades.

The start date is listed on UCAS as the 1st September where as all the other medicine courses state the start date as the 28th September. Does anyone know if the 1st is the actual start date?

The start date will likely to be either 21st or 28th September! Medicine usually start a week earlier than other courses

Hi!
What accommodation did you stay in in your first year (if you don't mind me asking) / what accommodation do you suggest for first year?

Can you give us a run down on what (in your opinion) accommodation is best for medics and maybe some stereotypes (true or not) for each of the accommodation buildings please?

So without a doubt Talybont is the best place to be! This is because it's equal distance to the heath campus where the medical school is and Cathays campus

I stayed in Talybont North I ahd a medium sized room its not the biggest spacious rooms I can't lie but i loved it. The best Talybont ones are Talybont Court and gate. If you are a massive party goer Talybont South is renowned for its night life!

Is there a free bus pass or help with transport given for reaching the heath/placements?

So for year 1 if you end up at the accomodation called University halls there is a free bus between campuses. However, it is a lot further out than people realise and harder to socialise. Living in Taly you walk it every where takes about 20m walk to either heath or Cathays campus!

For placements most transport is usually provided or reimbursed
When do invites to offer holder days get sent out does anyone know?
Reply 12
They are usually sent out when you get your confirmation emails!

Are these accommodations only for medics, or for people on all courses?

It's for people on all courses but it's where the majority of medics stay every year because of its Easy location. It also has a McDonald's, KFC and massive Tesco extra right next to the accommodation so it's so convenient!

Do u think it will be difficult to take time off end of October for a holiday?

Yes it will not be approved no more half terms at university I'm afraid! Your first term is very busy you would not have the time
