How often are the exams for pre-clinical years?
Also do you get marks for clinical placements?
What is the pass mark for the year 1 final exam?
Dyu feel that there's enough support with PBL and lectures?

2nd year there are 2 SBA and 2 SAP (Jan and May) with end of year worth most. 2 graded assessments (poster presentation and an oral presentation) weighted 50-50, must pass this element.
All are summative, so have to pass the aggregate of each type of assessment, so failing 1 paper would not, on its own, result in a resit.
No marks for clinical placements (though can get professional points against you). Clinical skills are assessed in an end of year OSCE and each skill is assessed as it is taught to ensure it is understood and performed correctly.
The pass marks very from exam to exam, depending on cohort performance, usually around 50-60%.
Newcastle is not PBL. There is as much support as you want from lecturers - can speak out after the lecture, email them later and all lectures are on the MLE for review. Seminars have ample chances to ask questions.
So I am told, anyway, by someone who is on the new curriculum
