Location- Don't just think about the campus but consider the amenities, shops, entertainment, and natural spaces the city has to offer
•
Transport- How will you get to and from university? Will you live close by? What's public transport like? What about taking a car with you? How far away is home?
•
Campus social spaces- Look at the spots on campus students recommend- are there cafés, SU study nooks, a nice library atmosphere? Places to hang out with friends?
•
Support- What support is available to students, such as student services, lecturer support, Careers Teams, SU advice support, etc.

•
Support Services- From a great careers service, to student services, the SU support, and wellbeing, as well as academic help, does the university seem like it's keen to support your learning journey? 👀
•
Cafés and social spots- Is the campus a nice place to be?! You'll be spending lots of time here and want to ensure you'd be happy hanging out with friends, having lunch between lectures, and walking round knowing that you enjoy being on campus 🌿
•
Assessment types- Many universities and courses assess learning and degrees differently- make sure you check online or ask staff how you'll be assessed- is it coursework, exams, a mix or neither! It's best to check to know what's right for you and if you need any support from the student services team to help achieve your best in different formats. 📚️

Get a plan in place!📝
If you haven't already, it's not too late to put a revision plan in place. There are plenty of online websites and tools for this but you could do this yourself for maximum flexibility and personalisation. Remember to make revision a priority but include important rest breaks, time for socialisation/hobbies/work, and to eat good food to fuel your brain!
•
Remember to take breaks! 🧠
To ensure you're looking after yourself (body + mind) and have time to digest/recall information, remember to fit rest breaks into your schedule. Use the Pomodoro 🍅 technique if this works for you, or another similar timed revision technique. Try to avoid doomscrolling or going on electronics during this time as you might get more distracted than you'd like!
•
Try active revision techniques! 💪
To recall information best and ensure it sinks in, check out some active revision techniques like flashcards, mind maps, or jotting down everything you know then marking yourself. You could also try past papers, practice questions, and other ways to make sure it sticks in your mind and you aren't just passively reading through textbooks or notes... Not super helpful!
•
Don't panic and go easy on yourself! 😌
Sure, it's a super stressful time and you're bound to be worried about exams but just remember that they don't define you and isn't a be-all-end-all to university- clearing is another way to get into the course you're interested in, and you never know what the exam will be like on the day, so try not to get too overwhelmed!

Take a look at Plymouth's official personal statement advice! There are lots of tips on there to maximise your impact through your application statement. 💫 Some highlights include:
•
"Think about what makes you suitable – this could be relevant experience, skills or achievements you’ve gained from education, work or other activities"
•
"Tell the reader why you’re applying – include your ambitions, as well as what interests you about the subject, the course provider and higher education."
•
"Look at course descriptions and identify the qualities, skills and experience required – you can use these to help you decide what to write about."
•
If you're stuck, don't be afraid to ask for help! Don't forget to have a look round the universities you've chosen to get a feel for the city and campus. If you can, it's always best to visit as many serious choices in person as it's a big decision to make. Although there are lots of resources, websites, and brochures online for each university if you can't quite make it to all of your choices. 🎓️
