I thought when a primary alcohol was oxidised completely the oxidising agent always has coefficient of 2. I don’t understand why it’s a 4 other than the fact that It balances the question.
I will post the equation.

It's a di-ol
OH group on both ends, so both hydroxyl groups are oxidised to COOH
