Welcome to the thread for Bath offer holders!

Congrats to all those who've received an offer to study at the University of Bath!

The thread's been created so we can help each other out on the admin stuff, ask current students (@University of Bath Postgraduate) and each other questions about the life in the university or city, or just to air some thoughts with people who might be your course mates in the near future.

If you want to introduce yourselves feel free to include:

1) Your name and course

2) Where you're from

3) Where you studied for your undergraduate

4) Any work experience you may have

Throughout the year we also offer many opportunities to attend virtual open days, where you can hear from current postgraduates about their experience so far and ask any questions to our helpful team of lecturers and ambassadors! More information can be found here: Virtual Open Days

If you're able to come and visit the University and would like a campus tour, we also offer the opportunity to book one with our postgraduate ambassadors for a date that suits you. More infomration can be found here: Postgraduate Campus Tours

Once again congrats to all those who've gotten an offer, hopefully you have a great experience at the University of Bath!

I'll get the ball rolling...

1) Hi, I'm Joel. I recently accepted an unconditional offer for the MSc in Computer Science (online), starting in May.

2) All over the UK.

3) I graduated with a First in Computer Games Technology from University of Abertay Dundee.

4) I did an industrial placement in the games industry and have worked in virtual reality since I graduated (which was quite a while ago now...).

University of Bath Postgraduate Is there going to be an open day on campus for postgraduates? I attended the recent virtual one and I see there's more scheduled, but it would be nice to visit the campus as I'm thinking of spending some of my time in Bath.

Hi void*!

Thanks for getting this thread going!

While there are no "official" open days on campus for postgraduates, you're more than welcome to contact the postgraduate admissions teams and come to the campus and have a guided tour at a time that is convenient for you. The advantage of this is that you will get a more personalised tour and conversation about the University, led by current postgraduates!

For information about these tours please see: Postgraduate Campus Tours

Bath is a lovely city so I would highly recommend spending some time here!

I hope this has helped, if you have any more questions just let me know!

Hi @crazyseal !

1) From my conversations with my coursemates, unless they studied at Bath for their undergraduate they generally stay in city accommodation such as James House. A list of student accommodation can be found here: University of Bath Student Accommodation. A few of my good friends are staying in James House this year and it is very nice, the facilities are great and it is very clean. The staff and management are very friendly and they regularly host events throughout the year, meaning you can socialise with other students there, so I would highly recommend looking into James House.

2) I have not experienced a pre-sessional course myself, however a pre-sessional course can help to develop your English language and academic skills before starting your master’s course. Read about how the course prepared Che-Cheng Lin for their degree: Pre-sessional Course
If you are interested doing a pre-sessional course before starting your degree, please email the University of Bath’s Postgraduate Taught Admissions Team who will be able to help: [email protected]

I hope this helps!

Hi! I'm Felix, I'm from the UK and I'm finishing my undergrad here in Bath.
I have a conditional offer (2:1) for a masters in the school of management, but as a UK student I understand I'm not guaranteed accomodation.
Do you have any idea what are the chances of me getting uni-managed accomodation in a basic standard room if I apply now (high/low) ? Cos this is an important criteria for me as I know Bath prices quite well and don't want to end up in an expensive Student Castle/The Exchange type accomodation...

Thanks!

Hi Felix!

Glad to hear you're considering staying on at Bath for your postgraduate studies! (I did the same)

Unfortunately I don't have an accurate idea on the chance of getting uni-managed accommodation as I imagine the number of students applying and the proportion of those that UK/EU or international have a big influence. However, whilst UK and EU students are not guaranteed postgraduate university accommodation, they can still apply and be considered, so it's definitely worth still applying for September. I'd love to say I know of UK postgrads who were in uni accommodation but I have met very few UK students during my postgraduate studies and the two others to me that I know of also found private accommodation.

The deadline to apply is 17 June: Accommodation Application Info

Also, when I didn't get a placement and needed to find accommodation by myself for third year, this facebook group was really helpful and I ended up living with a really friendly mix of uni of and spa students. From your message it seems as though you're not looking for shared accommodation but if this is the case I would strongly suggest reconsidering or at least joining this group as a back-up.
Bath Spa & Uni of Bath House/Housemate Finder

I hope this helps! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
