In peritoneal dialysis, does the dialysis fluid enter the blood or does it stay on the outside of the peritoneal membrane

It remains in the peritoneum. It doesn’t enter the blood due to water potential differences.

Sorry I think I misphrased. The dialysate (dialysis fluid) contains the correct concentrations of the mineral ions, urea and water (the stuff in blood plasma) so that anything in the blood that is too high in concentration diffuses out through the peritoneum into the dialysate, and anything too low in concentration in the blood diffuses into the blood from the dialysate.
