The Student Room Group

What counts as financially supporting myself.

Hi Everyone, please help if you know about this,

So at the minute, I am trying to apply for a student loan, and I was just wondering... do constant temporary jobs since I was 15 count as financially supporting myself? as my parent never paid for anything really and I just didn't know if temporary jobs count. I've not had any benefits or anything other than a bursary from school so don't know if that counts as well?

Thanks.

Hello,

A student can be considered independent if they have supported themselves financially for at least three years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course.

Acceptable evidence can include:
P60's
Month 12 or week 52 wage slip's
Statement of Earnings from HMRC or employer
Employers letters

Thanks, Lynsey.
