has anyone heard of invigilators playing games?

my best friend lives next door to one of the invigilators at our college, and on the phone today she mentioned that when her mum was talking to the invigilator, she mentioned that she plays games to pass to time. one of the games is "invigilator tag", this involves the invids. walking around and touching each other and walking away. another is "candidate battleships". this is where an invidgilator chooses a certain number of people to be ships, and then another invid. says candidate/seat numbers. and another being a rating game. where one invigilator says a candidate/seat number, and the other invigilators has to say what grade they think they'll get on the exam.

this amused me, has anyone else heard of these games? and if, so, amuse me more and tell me if there are any other games that you've heard of.:woo:

Battleships is something I'll have to remember. I can see myself invigilating part time.

At my school apparently they used to ask each other questions about the student most likely to do this or that, and would go and stand next to the one they chose. A teacher admitted that to my friend when she asked why he was standing by her for so long in an exam but he wouldn't say what he picked her for. I've heard of the slow tag too
Apparently, they once played "Stand behind the ugliest kid" at my school. I believe a few of them were fired as a result.

Ever heard of the game "Bogies" from that show with Dick and Dom? I think the aim of the game is to shout "Bogies!" as loudly as you can before something happens (I've never played this, so I don't know what - I think it's until the other person backs down).

I swear invigilators do this in exams to wind us up. It starts with a tiny "have you got the time?" at the front, and it becomes "ooh I'm off ter get me nails done cuz am off ter a weddin' termorre" by the time the exam's over.

I sat most of my exams in the front row, so I could hear them all the time. One of my friends (also in the front row) said she wanted to be at the back for one exam, so the exams officer redid the seating plan so I ended up at the back too. Talk about Murphy's Law - the damn grannies came and stood near us!
I've never heard anything like this. I think this is going to distract me in my next exam
Ours used to play tag all the time - I noticed during GCSEs. It made me chuckle

 wow, that's really nasty.
Our PE teachers have races where they have to walk as slowly as possible but are not allowed to stop
If I was an exam invigilator, I'd begin the most inappropriately placed game of Wink Wink Murder in the history of mankind.

Imagine it. A silent exam room as A Level students struggle to keep their concentration on Further Maths. All of a sudden, the invigilator behind them gets winked at by the one at the front, and falls to the ground in a spectacularly melodramatic and noisy death.

Fan-bloody-tastic. *dreams*

lol, i suppose it must get pretty boring for them in silence for hours
Invigilators here sometimes play a game which involves not going to the person with their hand up first invigilator who bottles it and goes loses.
:):)

It's not a lot, though, £7-8 an hour.

Tell them to shut up, I do! Then again I sit my exams away from the rest of the students where invigilators are by themselves and have nothing to do, I once told a woman to stop knitting. Thing is for then it's just two hours but for you it could change your life, you're allowed to stick up your hand and ask them to be quiet, my friend made this one woman cry in an exam because she was so pissed that she was talking.

it's more than what a lot of people are on. according to the classified section in our local reporter, they are on c. 80k p.a.
This is AMAZING!! Battleships = genius. Absolute genius. As well as tag... if only I'd been more observant at school :frown:
