Girls - Sweaty hands, a put off?

Hello there,

Well basically i have had hyperhydrosis which is excessive sweating on the palms of the hands and feet since as long as i can remember. I have seeked medical advice of which nothing has worked YET.

So i just want to know, will the sweating of my palms put you off? I think i have lost a lot of confidence because of this sweating. I just want to know if people think it is disgusting etc.

FYI im 18 years old and im male and any male advice is also welcome

Also, what would you think when shaking someones hand that is sweaty? For example if you were interviewing someone and their hands were wet when you shaked it?

I wouldn't judge, because I have the same problem, alot milder though, but still I can understand how it is embarrassing.

Well it's hardly going to be a turn on, but I don't think it would factor that highly. I had a friend at school who had the same problem and some of our friends would make jokes about her "clammy hands", but I thought that was really insensitive and nasty.

I would just think 'oh, they must be very nervous' and that would be it! Some people have sweaty feet, others sweaty armpits, others sweaty palms, we all sweat one way or another, it is just harder to hide damp palms! It is pointless me just shrugging and telling you not to worry about it, as you obviously are. Personally i would like to believe that people are not that shallow to be disgusted by this and hope others will think similar. As you have been to the dr i take it you have tried that roll on which lasts for several days? If not, chemists sell it and it is definately worth trying. Please try not to let these palms of yours batter your confidence, try to focus more on the postive aspects of yourself.

It's not brilliant, but it wouldn't put me off per se.

Sex would be a bit of an issue though.

Funny you would say that... i also have sweaty feet and arm pits. Ive already tried some roll ons. Driclor seemed to improve it by a slight bit but that was it.

BTW thanks for the encouragement... it is much appreciated

I do that, but sometimes i am wearing like smart trousers that do not take kindly to me trying to wipe my sweat on it. Maybe i should carry around a towel with me? i dunno :frown:

oh, im sorry to hear that. Ask your pharmacist for some driclor because it did help me a little bit, it might help you as well.

It is embarassing for me too. I dont like shaking peoples hands. Especially when its someone that i have just met. Some people take it personally that i dont want to shake their hand :frown: . Still... i havent met anyone outside my family that has sweaty hands. And its only me and my brother within my family that do have sweaty hands.

My ex suffered from this and tbh I hardly ever noticed, although he did have to wear his specially made "sweat gloves" to open small bottles and the such. That WAS a turn off so i'd recommend if you have a pair of these ever so unsexy gloves that you don't bring them out infront of a girl you like!

I don't think it's bad enough for special stuff really, it's not that often anymore, I think it has got better from when I was like 13/14. It's usually better when I'm outside, when it's very cold or when I'm drunk :s-smilie:

Well, it's not exactly a turn on, but it's certainly not a deal breaker either. If I met a guy who had sweaty hands, but I really liked him for other reasons anyway, then the sweaty hands wouldn't bother me too much. I'd work around it. Besides, it's not like he can help it. And I'm not exactly perfect either.

Don't worry about it too much, most girls will see past it
