Why would someone text “hey” after 2 months then not reply?

2 months ago he said he never wanted to speak to me again. Yesterday he sent a text saying hey. I no longer had his number saved so I asked who is this. Instantly he texted back to say who. I ignored this message 2 hours because I am still annoyed at him. Then I texted hi. He never replied. Why is this
He’s playing games. Don’t engage with it. Trust me. In the long run you’ll end up back at square one but with a lot more heartache in the bag.
