lol great thread  crack out the ideas girls!
A good movie/episodes of a good program, a bar of galaxy, a bottle of pepsi max and a hot chocolate later on.

There was nobody else involved though, so not sure it was technically a date :p:

Hah!

Ermm...

Best date I had was actually with my now boyfriend, he took me to an indian late at night, and then he suggested we 'walk it off' and he wanted to show me something, he lives (and I do too now) in a really idyllic coastal town in Wales with a castle that over looks the bay, it was midnight and he walked me up to the top of the hill the castle is on and looked out across the bay it was all lit up on the otherside and the sky was really clear, t'was beautiful.

I've also had some interesting times just staying up all night and wondering round town, not drunk, in fact pretty sober but laying in a park in the wee hours of a summer morning just talking has it's charms....(bit dangerous now I think about it actually).

I've never enjoyed a date where the guy has spent a fortune trying to 'impress' me, it's the simple romantic gestures that make me go all gooey.

Disney fan?

Personally, I'd find that view over the city thing very unoriginal and movie-like, but I'm not a girl so can't really comment on that.

My boy and I went on a walk for our first date. We intended just to go for half an hour or so, but ended up walking all along the river out of Cambridge to the next village. We also played Pooh sticks. It was freezing and I was a mess but he didn't care.
I don't believe I've ever been on a date in my life, not in a "I'm sad and lonely" way, but more in a "I just hang out with my boyfriends at home or occasionally go shopping or to the cinema" kind of way...

I've never really gone anywhere particularly romantic with anyone...

Don't fear, bateman is here.

I find that a fun event like bowling, ice skating or the movies followed by a nice stroll and a long talk works best. Good luck.

You don't need to spend loads, so don't worryabout taking her for a meal. Also, I'd steer clear of the cinema as you don't get to chat.

If you have your own place, then a cooked meal, bottle of wine and a dvd are perfect.

If not, a not-too-crowded bar is good. Offer to buydrinks but, if she's worth her salt, she'll match you round for round.

I'd avoid doing something "wacky" or unusual just for the sake of it. You need to be somewhere that you can both chat and be yourselves.

Three of the best dates Ive had are:
Walking round a park and then just sitting on the grass, on a sunny day.
Wandering round town, stopping for something to eat in a cafe.
A guy cooking a meal for me, then just cuddling up watching a film.

None of these sound that exciting, but it's more about the company than where you go. If there's lots of interesting conversation and you click well, it's likely both of you will have a good time.

Here's a few more ideas you could use, not dates I've been on, but places I've been with boyfriends:
To the seaside - went on a boating lake, to a sealife centre, to the arcades, on the beach, a long walk up to this amazing view where we sat for a while, and then a meal in a cafe/restaurant.
Gigs.
To a theme park.
To this activity place where we did rock climbing, kayaking, orienteering.
A walk and a picnic.
To the theatre.
To a fair.
Bowling and cinema.
Going round museums/tourist attractions.

Scarbough (sp?) by any chance?

Took my lass there once and it was lovely and hot and sunny. Wander down the beach, go grab fish and chips by the harbour, go and admire the view from the castle, was a great day.
What about a cup of coffee in the morning and a film late at night on full screen? WHERE HAS THE NORMAL **** GONE?

These guys are showing everyone else up. Reminds me about the episode of the Simpsons when Apu shows all the guys in Springfield up before Valentines day. What a douchebag.

Yep, it was Scarborough. We went there last year and it was probably the sunniest day of the summer - it had been non stop raining for the month or so before, so it was lucky the bad weather had cleared up on the day we went.

Boys lack imagination sometimes and we need your help. Tell us what dates stick in your mind and why, PLEASE

The things I could tell you! Shame you only asked the girls what happened to them rather than ask the guys what they did :p:

Best one was with the guy I'm seeing now took me out for a meal, was a bit awkward at first you know first date and everything. I went on to monumentally embarrass myself by laughing so hard i spat food on myself, accidently burping, coming out with sayings from a holiday i had just been on etc. But he seemed to like it about me the embarrassing stuff actually helped to break the ice for the night and ended up getting on really well! Perfect ending with a kiss too!

I hope that meant date.
Mine is totally cliché, but for Valentine's Day, my boyfriend cooked my favourite meal for me, dimmed the lights, candles on the table, gave me a bunch of flowers...it was very romantic. Then he got a little tipsy, started playing with the candles and nearly set the house on fire. Best night ever.
