STEM Career and degree

Hi Guys,
I am currently in my AS year studying Biology, Chemistry and English and I have no clue on what to do as a university degree or for my future career,
Can anyone give me suggestions and details on possible future careers ( because I have trawled through a lot of careers directories and nothing really catches my eye)
Thanks

Hey!

As you do biology and chemistry you would most likely be able to do biology (unis allow you to choose your honours so you can choice to either do general bio or specialise e.g, biochem, ecology, genetics ect.) or a chemistry degree ( you'd have to double check because some universities require maths). You could also apply for medicine but you need to start getting work experience pretty quickly as it is a requirement and very competitive (some universities also require maths). English I'm not too sure as I'm stem focused.

As for unis, go to open days. Go to as many open days because you will always get something out of it, even if its a free pen :P. Look online, look at university rankings. Anything you can find! Ask yr 13's and friends where they are going, ask teachers where they went or what they recommend.

Some tools I found useful when trying to decide was unifrog and the UCAS site because they suggest universities within reach of your UCAS predicted grades and courses that have your subjects as requirements. If you still aren't certain on those degrees I would suggest a broad degree such as Liberal arts and/ or natural sciences course which you can find at most universities. There is a really nice LANS course at Birmingham university

I wouldn't stress too much about your degree or university choice right now. I only decided on which courses and universities I wanted to go in October/November of Yr 13.

I hope that helps and best of luck !
