I'm currently doing microbiology which is a 3 year course and planning to switch to Neuroscience (also a 3 year course). If I switch to neuroscience, I would have to start at year one again.

What year of microbiology are you in?

Are you studying full time?

Year one
Are you planning on completing your current year in microbiology and then going into year 1 of the new course? Or would you leave your current course early?

Thanks,
Chanel

Im unsure about this yet as I am still waiting on answers from my department. What would happen in both situations? For example
1) I choose to complete this course and progress onto first year neuroscience
2) I choose to leave this course and defer into first year neuroscience starting this September

If you chose to withdraw from your current course then we would need your university/college to notify us of this change. Once we are told we will run a new assessment on your account to see what funding you were eligible for. This may result in you receiving an over payment, we would notify you this in writing and it will also be view-able on your online account.

If you finished the current year then you'd be entitled to the funding you received so wouldn't be in overpayment.

Can you confirm if you're studying full-time and if both courses start in September?

Thanks,
Chanel

Thanks for confirming this.

If you decide to withdraw from your studies then you would apply as a new student when you start your new course.

If you complete the year then you would apply as a returning student.

Thanks,
Chanel

What would happen to funding? Will I still be entitled to getting a student loan for the 3 year course?

Do you have any other previous study aside from your 1 year in microbiology?

Thanks,
Chanel

Hi there,

If you only have one year of previous study then you will be eligible for full funding for a new full time course.

Thanks, Erin
