I was thinking in general, what % of a level physics do people think is mechanics?(I'm sure its similar across exam boards)

The important thing to realise is, regardless of how many straight mechanics questions there are, it's ideas and principles appear in almost every topic. So it's incredibly important to have a good understanding of it.

Mechanics is a foundational topic for a level physics. It crops up in many different areas.

It probably won't. FM's mechanics goes much further than mechanics in physics. This is mainly because a-level physics cannot assume the maths required, for example knowledge in calculus. The only overlap I can think of is circular motion.

Yea, like _gcx said, FM2 goes much beyond the mechanics at A level Physics. For Edexcel, there are 12 Topics. Two of them are called Mechanics and Further Mechanics. Then, two are called Gravitational fields and Simple Harmonic Motion, which somewhat count as mechanics. It is important to keep in mind that NOT all topics are the same length. There are some very short topics such as Gravitational fields and some long topics such as Mechanics. Even more so, E/M chapters have mechanics integrated into them. As you can see, there is quite a bit involved, but it's hard to put a percentage on it. The one thing I can give you a percentage on is the maths involved: 40%. That 40% includes all calculations though, i.e. including waves, optics, etc.
