Did you go through any trauma that can be a cause.

Have you had any sort of brain injury? Is there absolutely nothing you can remember? When you look through photos do they bring you back to the moment?

looking at photos doesn't actually give me back memories i just will know what is happening vaguely in the photo

It was always like this, just I’ve mainly started to realise in the past year, because I used to think it was normal for me not to remember much but my friends remember a lot more
I’ve had mris and eegs ( for other things ) and I have no brain problem

I’m the exact same, I’m 15 and only have around 5 memories from before I was around 13, I’ve always had this feeling that I experienced trauma as a child and just repressed the memory but I don’t remember anything happening. We’re in the same boat so if you find anything out about it let me know x

I was depressed aged 1-13 (bad childhood). I remember when I was 14 and 15 life was good, I was happy.

Then aged 16, 17, depressed AF. Now I am aged 18, 19 I am better

I am 15 right now and I am a cold person I don't remember anything from my past other than a few things when I tried to think about it just weird. My parents are split apart I know my dad is a jerk and wanted me to only think about myself.

Memories become ingrained through repetition. If you aren't recalling memories - even sporadically - then they fade away in time. I remember watching an animation that showed how a memory is like a cell, and it grows bigger every time you think of that memory. If you aren't replaying these memories in your brain, then that may explain why you don't have many before the age of 13.

This may initially sound like trauma or early signs of some disease, but it's actually pretty common. As you get older, you just forget things that have happened.
