Nothing is a waste of time if you enjoy it- besides, you’re only at GCSE level and its very unlikely that your choice of GCSE will affect what you can take at A level if you wish to do them. From what I’ve heard Art takes a lot of organisational skills as it is heavily coursework based, and history requires strong essay writing skills and a good memory for dates. All subjects are around the same difficulty level though so just go for what you enjoy!

im being real here yeah i got a 4 for art and spent a moderate amount of time on my coursework (at least grade 5-6)
but there was this girl in my class and she literally banged out her coursework it was literally masterpiece after masterpiece and everyone thought she was gonna get a 8/9 but she got a 6

so if ur gonna pickit follow guidance from the specification of your exam board around coursework

Art is a great subject but there is a lot of coursework to do at home. History is great if you like it, I took it and definitely don't regret it, but its up to you and what you want to study
