Is it travel related? Do you think the UK will reach the same numbers in the following weeks?

It's largely down to chance to be fair. It's one of the largest travel destinations in the world so they had huge traffic of infected tourists. At that point, it just happened that it was them out of other hugely touristic countries such as France or Spain that had the initial outbreak. At this point France and Spain will likely not catch up as there is less of a carelessness/surprise factor that would allow for an outbreak. The UK is less touristic and more isolated than those 3 so its numbers will be lower too.

The paragraph above pertains to the quantity of infected people. In terms of deaths, where Italy lead even more, it's down to the average age in Italy, where there are many old people (youngest Corona death in Italy was 66 years old with pre-existing medical conditions).
