Interview for Prosthetics and Orthotics at Strathclyde.

Hi! I have an interview for P&O in a few days and was just wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of what the interview is like - dress code, questions/assessments etc.
Thank you!
Hi @Anonymous#1

I would recommend dressing smart casual, perhaps a black skirt and white shirt?

The prosthetics and orthotics department will give you a tour on the day of your interview. They will also have an informal chat with you which lasts around 15/20 minutes or so. They will ask you questions such as 'why do you want to study prosthetics and orthotics' and ask you what you know about the course like 'what is prosthetics and orthotics?'. Generally, the questions they ask will be typical job interview questions. These won't be hard, they just want to see that you're interested in the course, so don't worry!

If you have any more questions about the course or the uni then feel free to ask.

Hey, just received an interview for P&O! Any recommendations for websites or anything to learn more about the course, besides the strath website. Little nervous for the interview and want to be well prepared.
Thanks

Hey @Anon8127 🙂 Big congrats on receiving an interview! That's really exciting! When is it scheduled for?

I know it's much easier said than done but try not to overwhelm yourself too much beforehand. The main things the interviewers will be looking to see are your passion for, readiness and understanding of the course. Think about why you want to study P&O (hopefully this would be an easy question to answer!) and what you've done to prepare for your studies. Maybe prepare some good examples of things you've worked on which will help you succeed on the course (demonstration of people skills/teamworking/communication for example).

You've been given the chance to interview as the admissions teams like your application - don't doubt yourself 💪

Good luck! Please do pop back in to this thread after to let me know how it goes.

But I’m afraid of not being able to answer the questions, is there like tutors that can help before interview?

Big congrats to you as well @Fatouma- 😀🎉 That's exciting news.
There's not anyone that can specifically help beforehand. It's not an intense interview setting though - think of it more as a chat so that the department can get to know you. They're looking to see that you can communicate effectively, that you understand the course and which other skills you can bring to your studies.

Some additional prep you can consider is to research in to the profession, and understand the difference between prosthetics and orthotics. Think about some of the key skills required within the profession and what you've done to prepare yourself for the career (communication skills are important, and whether you are able to demonstrate good hand motor skills for example).

I know the word 'interview' can sound scary - but I promise it's not super formal or intimidating. The department are full of lovely academics who are rooting for you and wanting you to do well 🙂 As I said before - you've got an interview because your application shows you're capable so it's just about showing that in a chat too!

Wishing you lots of luck with it! Please do drop in after the interview to let me know how it goes.
