Never ever have a list, because luckily enough I live at home
When I feel the urge to wander round the shop with the 'rents, it's picking and choosing what we fancy, my mother's as bad as me!

I always plan out a week's worth of meals before I write my shopping list.

I went to the market this weekend, and bought:
-Carrots
-Tomatoes
-Peppers
-Apples
-Grapes
-Green beans

My shopping list at the moment includes:
-Tofu
-More veg for a stir fry
-Noodles
-Peanut butter
-Baking potatoes
-Soup
-Butternut squash
-Kidney beans
-Chopped tomatoes
-Milk
-Garlic

But to be honest, at the moment I already have what I need for quite a few meals. Tomorrow I'm making falafel, and I already have chickpeas, onions and spices, as well as pitta, salad, yoghurt and mint sauce to serve with them. Then the next day I'm making sweet potato curry.

Reply 17

I sooo never have a list:p:

last week I bought:
frozen battered haddock fillets
4 jacket potatoes
frozen peas
greek yogurt
chocolate soy milk
bananas
raisins
10 mixed seed bagels
wholemeal english muffins
light Philadelphia
half price Pizza Express margherita x2
butter

and yesterday:
2 breaded chicken fillets
large pack prawns
stir fry veg
noodles
4 jacket potatoes
greek yogurt
bananas
cereal bars
cereal
Pepsi Max
4 bran/seed bagels
light Philadelphia

that's not all I eat in a week though, randomly pick up other things sometimes. and some things keep and last a few weeks and so on.

Reply 18

I live in Italy, so my weekly/bi-monthy shop goes something like this:
Dried pasta (although I rarely buy it because I buy it in bulk and it lasts foreverrr)
Fresh pasta:
- gnocchi
- tortellini
- ravioli
Meat:
- prosciutto crudo
- prosciutto cotto
Cheese:
- mozzarella
- dried parmesan cheese
- emmenthal
- gorgonzola
Frozen veggies:
- aubergine
- mixed grilled vegetables
- spinach
Soffincini (they're like crumbed pockets that you can find stuffed with anything and everything)
Salad items:
- lettuce
- carrot
- tinned sweetcorn
- cherry tomatoes
Bread/cereal:
- Special K red berries
- melba-toast type stuff to put in salad for a bit of crunch
- cereal bars
Milk
Low-fat yoghurts
Eggs
Chicken (although I don't eat it that much here 'cause it's expensive)
Pesto/sauces
- ragù
- green and red
- tinned tomatoes
Fruit
- oranges
- apples
- grapes
Risottos
Bottled water
Hazelnut chocolate
Diet Coke
Olive Oil
White wine vinegar
Oregano
Salt

Obviously, I don't need to buy all this every week, but this is generally what's in my kitchen at any one time.

I buy a massive ASDA online shop (would rather do it weekly but minimum order is £25) so I do this and its tends to last just over a month, say 5/6 weeks!

Best tips I would give would be to put bread in the freezer (pop it in microwave for 10 seconds and to defrost it), invest in sandwich bags/tupperware so you can make a giant put of chilli (tinned tomatoes!) and freeze loads of portions, fling and a can of tinned tomatoes in spag bol sauce & again freeze portions! I have chilli powder, cumin, frozen garlic, tinned pineapple, tomato soups, pasta shapes, tonnes of packets of chinese curry powder - it's amazing, & milk in my cupboard at the moment & have just did the following ASDA shop.

&& don't be bothered about buying name brand stuff, I'm in halls, most people don't care & those that do hardly have any money to do anything else...

Not in any particular order, sorry!
1 ASDA Smartprice Milk Chocolate Bar £0.30
1 ASDA Smartprice Peach Slices in Syrup £0.39
1 ASDA Smartprice Orange Juice £0.84
1 ASDA Pasta sauce - tomato and mascarpone £1.40
1 ASDA Freshly Frozen Cauliflower Florets, Peas and Carrots £1.33
1 ASDA Chicken Breast Fillets Rollback - Was £2.87 £2.00
1 ASDA Smartprice Brussels pate chub £0.46
1 ASDA Smartprice Mince - beef £0.97
1 ASDA Smartprice Oranges £0.67
3 ASDA SmartPrice Chopped Tomatoes in Tomato Juice £0.99
2 ASDA Smartprice Baked Beans £0.56
4 ASDA Smartprice Instant Noodles Curry £0.40
6 ASDA Smartprice Instant Noodles Chicken £0.60
1 ASDA Brown onions £0.80
1 ASDA Smartprice Spaghetti £0.28
2 ASDA Smartprice Easy Cook Long Grain Rice £1.20
3 ASDA Smartprice Cream of Chicken Soup £0.51
1 ASDA Chicken tikka sandwich filler £1.00
1 ASDA Smartprice Grated Mild Cheddar £2.00
1 ASDA Smartprice Gammon rounds - smoked £1.00
