Hi. I’m in year 12 at the moment, and am doing a level maths, chemistry and design technology (haven’t gotten predicted grades yet) I want to study product design at either Loughborough or Brunel, but I’m kinda worried my GCSEs might decrease the likely good of getting in. They’re not awful, I passed everything, but they’re not amazing either:

Biology: 6
Chemistry: 7
Computer science: 4
Design Technology: 8
English Language: 5
English Literature: 7
History: 6
Mathematics: 7
Physics: 6
Spanish: 6

The course requirements are ABB, with at least a B in an art based subject, and a B in either maths or physics, which in my case, is DT and maths. Thanks in advance

The most important thing is that you meet their minimum requirements. Both for GCSE and A-levels. For lougborough the only GCSE requirement is a 4 in maths and you have a 7 so I highly doubt your GCSEs will affect your application.

You would be better off focusing on making sure you get good predicted grades and have a good PS.

For our Product Design and Technology degree we only require a 4/C in GCSE Maths. Focus on your A-Level grades and building a strong Personal Statement.

Any other questions feel free to drop us a PM.
Best Wishes,
Emily
