TSR's One Album a Day ClubWatch
Yes you can, whacking it in the backlog now!!!
Looking for something post 2010 for tomorrow to make sure we are mixing up the eras a little bit if anyone who hasn't recommended anything has a good idea
I love everything about it
Prince - Purple Rain:
Backlog of Albums to listen to
Grace Slick - Dreams
10CC's - Original soundtrack
Arctic Monkeys- Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Led Zeppelin - IV
All at least decent albums.
I actually liked Purple Rain. I've never been a huge Prince fan, and not as in I haven't liked him, just that I never really got round to giving his music a proper try. Obviously I've heard When Doves Cry and Purple Rain before but that was about it. Some thoughts below:
The first song "Go Crazy" was absolutely amazing and I instantly thought what have I been missing, proper had me pumped for the rest of the album. After that some of the tracks were a bit weak in all honesty "Take me with U" and "Computer Blue" had my attention waning a little bit but I stuck through. Purple Rain and When Doves Cry obviously are great tracks, and I'm pretty sure I heard the guy that lives above me laugh when I was singing them.
Overall pretty good, would try more Prince in the future but not really my type of music. Solid 6.5/10 (Are we allowing .5s?)
I'd give 6/10 overall
Some album suggestions:
Ever After - Marianas Trench
Midnight - Set it Off
Joyride - Roxette
did a good job cheering me up
Take Me with U - Lyrics-wise, sounds more like the kind of music I associate with the 60s - early 70s. Not a bad thing.
The Beautiful Ones - Best one so far. Vocals and music are awesome.
Computer Blue - Again, got better towards the end, after that transition in the middle.
Darling Nikki - An hour or so after suggesting Grace Slick's 'Dreams' for this thread, I had second thoughts due to there being a naughty word in the first song. Apparently I needn't have worried. Far too pornographic for my tastes.
When Doves Cry - I always liked this song as a child, but somehow reached the age of 31 with no idea what it was called, or who sang it. Best so far, and it goes on the pile of stuff to play while working on my next anime preview thread.
I Would Die 4 U - This one's amazing as well.
Baby I'm a Star - The first one that's made me want to get up and dance. I resisted though, dyspraxia and dancing aren't a good combination. Deserved the applause at the end.
Purple Rain - My first time listening to more than the chorus, I believe. A nice change of pace from Baby I'm a Star, lovely song to end on.
Overall: Side 1 had its moments, but it definitely got better as it went along. I'm with gingerbread10000, 8/10
always looking to listen new music & bands/artists
