Mod edit: For advice, guidance and up-to-date information on Coronavirus/COVID-19, please check out the NHS, UK Government, and Mind (mental health) web-pages.

The government emergency powers as proposed will last for two years without further Parliamentary review or discussion.

They are intending to pass the powers without a vote. The powers will give the government the right to detain any person suspected of having the virus (which means basically anyone) and take them to unspecified locations for 'screening and assessment'. Sounds a lot like dictatorship powers.

I'm sure the government don't intend to use these powers in any context other than Coronavirus, but really, what's to stop them extending them later to political dissent or even anyone slightly critical? Probably not much.

Yes,the plan is all coming together. First, they releases the virus in china, now, they are subtly seizing permanent power. Today, Britain, tomorrow, the world!
