OK, among my friends:
1 grad programme at JP Morgan
1 grad programme at Lehman Brothers
1 internship at largest bank in Austria (can't remember the name though lol)
1 legal training contract (given to her in second year of history degree)
1 political consultant at Mandate Communications
2 grad programmes at PwC (OK that's the easiest to get out of the three, but point still made)

No it's not a terrible uni at all. It's not the #1 best uni (though for engineerig it is one of the best) but it is still very solid. Originalname was being a cock.

Southampton is a good university and you shouldn't worry. The reason he's going after Southampton is because you seem somewhat defensive and worried what others think.

It's a good university overall and has a very good careers record. It's also one of the few to be part of AIESEC, which if you take part and make the most of is invaluable to future employment.
It's ot a great space science department the specilise in it there an they offer a year abroad program at CERN (big physics lab in switzerland that has the LHC) so there pretty good for physics  (especially research)

OMG you know what AIESEC is?!!!! Are you in it?!!!!

It is one of the best places for Marine Biology in the world. One of my ex-students is there and he loves it.
No modern university is bad, the standards of inspection and quality control for teaching are so high.

Not terrible at all. One of my friends who did the BCL at Oxford this year did his undergrad at Soton and he's one of the most intelligent and hardworking people I've ever met.

It's THE best student society in the country that gives its students to do internships in over 100 countries. It's only in 23 universities though (of which Southampton is one).

I hope you're not suggesting that Southampton is an ex-poly.
From when I visited it for my degree, there were bits I loved:
- National Oceanography Centre.
- Amount of research.
- Very big.

And other things I really didn't like
- How far it was away from the main campus.
- Disorganised open day.
- Not that brilliant labs.
- Great for oceanography and marine biology, but hardly any mention of geology.
- Lecturers hard to talk to.
- Lack of any information.
- Lack of structure to degree and having to get 3 A's to study abroad when I can go abroad at other universities with the same entry requirements.
- No mention of field trip bursaries.

But overall, the cons outweigh the pros for me. I'm not saying it's a bad university at all, it just didn't tick all the right boxes for me, though for many others I'm sure it will.
