depends on the exam board and texts you do, i guess. all exam boards will expect you to have a good knowledge of your texts though.

The poetry anthology will be given to you in the exam, and you'll be able to pick any two poems you want for the question (along with a novel for comparison). I would advise knowing at least four of them very well.

For my English Lit A-Level, the first topic I studied was Love Through the Ages and we went through the pre 1900 poetry anthology (comparing it to Rebecca), Othello & Unseen poetry.

The second topic was Modern times - Literature from 1945 to the present day and I studied Streetcar Named Desire, Unseen prose and the Feminine Gospels collection in comparison to Handmaid's Tale.

I think it was the second easiest subject I did after sociology.
