I'm not doing Biochemistry, but another programme in the school of biosciences. I share a number of modules with Biochemistry and am familiar with the team.

It's not a bad choice, some of the lecturers are quite likable and clearly enjoy teaching. Like anywhere, the teaching quality is variable between lecturers, but there is a good support network. A major advantage of doing your bioscience degree at Surrey is that almost all lectures are recorded and you have access to most lecture materials in advance. So this makes revision easier because you can just watch the lectures again.
Additionally, the placement year option is a winner.

Study spaces are busy and it can be irritating to find study space during the day because the university is overpopulated. This is improving because we now have 'the hive' in addition to the library, but still, it's a problem. It's a small campus. I reccommend giving the place a proper look around, it's 3+ years of your life.
