Eggheads - I think it's fixed!

Poll

Do you think The Eggheads is fixed?

Anyone else think the same? I haven't watched it much but every time I see it, I get this hunch that makes me think it is fixed. Do you? I know the Egghead team comprises of some talented individuals but I've noticed something strange today. CJ was asked a question which the answer was to a place he visited only two months ago. Normally I'd have dismissed the link as a coincidence but not now. He stated quite forcefully that he only went to Prague, the answer to the question, only two months ago. Now would you react like that? Most people who know the answer just smile and/or nod and you can tell they know the answer (observations from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire).

I think the Eggheads have been unbeaten 30 times on the bounce now, if not more. I do wonder though, will someone send in a group comprising of previous quiz winners like a former Mastermind champion without everyone else knowing?

Don't think so. But they obviously screen the contestants carefully, because they're usually pretty dismal.

Reply 2

Not really. They just know a lot of general knowledge because they've all been on numerous quiz shows.

nah, it's not fixed. And if that example was fixed, CJ wouldn't just say "Oooh, i was in Prague 2 months ago!" Anyway, the question was probably not that easy so the average person who's been to prague would not know.
and what do you expect really...these guys have won so many quiz shows, first to win millionaire etc...if its 2 randomers vs 2 eggheads, and more often it is worse odds, the eggheads really should win.

It's frightfully dull anyway

I've always thought it, though I've sort of put this theory to rest a bit recently as they've lost more over the past few months.

The reason I used to suspect it was because when they were unsure of a question they'd say every answer out loud and it looked as if they were waiting for some sort of approval from someone - a bit like how the coughing woman did it on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

And off topic, CJ's a prick.

Reply 6

Of coursed it's 'fixed'; it's inherently 'fixed': that's the premise of the entire show.

Reply 7

CJ is a d***

Reply 8

I think they have had previous quiz champions on there as a team before. Chris was friends with them, so they were quite "high up".

But yeah... CJ is a prick.

Reply 9

They are all told to talk about the question and their logic, not just come out with the answer

Reply 10

I think it is pretty fair. I tend to think with recent scares of telephone rigging etc production companies arent going to take risks. And yes... CJ is an absolute moron.

The questions may not be tailored for them to the extent that they actually know the questions and answers but if they are playing against poor competition, because the screening process decides this, then it's just another way to fix a quiz show. I've not seen a serious quiz show have such a big dominance, whether it's 15-to-1, Mastermind, Countdown (not totally a quiz show but I'll count it for now) or Going For Gold.

Then again, I think University Challenge favours Oxbridge students though so I'm not the best person to agree with. :/

the crucial questions always go in the eggheads favour, of course its fixed. If the money increases every week as the eggheads go unbeaten, it draws more viewers in. I think they went on like a 60 odd game unbeaten run not long ago and loads of people were watching it at that point. If u watch it enough u'll start to notice that the crucial questions go in the eggheads favour.

Most of the time that's the case. The challenger manages to get to the tie-break and their question is who was the tenth person across the line in the 1964 London Marathon, Egghead gets asked what their mother's name is (slight exaggeration :p:)

Have just watched Eggheads and the questions they asked one of them was so easy an 16 year old could have answered them.
