Do you think that people should be vaccinated with the MMR jab? Or not?.

I believe that it is a matter for individual adults and parents of young children to decide upon.
I have not had the MMR and would not recommend it or the MMRV to anyone.

Why do you personally not want it?

Measles is a preventable disease! It’s just selfish to say that you won’t vaccinate yourself! I had measles and I was vaccinated and I’m utterly shocked that people don’t get vaccinated.

I’m now living with the prospect that I could die in a few years because of SSPE, would you wish death on someone that could have been prevented? It’s people like you that ensure that an easily preventable disease still exists.

I had measles when I was 6.
My parents are anti-vaxxers, maternal grandparents were too.
My father worked for vaccine developers and received a lot of research funding from them.
Only vaccine I've had is for polio; I got that when my parents were away and I was staying with my uncle.

So you’ve had measles as well? I don’t understand how your parents can be anti-vaxxers yet your father worked for vaccine developers?

No it's not impossible, it is 'highly unlikely'. You will note that the two are not synonyms.

Clearly isn’t if you got it! The doctors told me otherwise though, probably because it’s that rare.

The problem with not choosing to vaccinate is that by not doing so, you are putting yourself and others at risk. Measles is not a mild disease, you can die from it. It can also cause permanent damage (SSPE for example).

I've had chickenpox more than once, too. My immunity is not the greatest in the world

Very unlucky, so your not at risk from SSPE then?
