Are people that work for Opticians considered key workers?

My manager has said people that work for Opticians are considered key workers but I don't see how they are?

One example should suffice. People with diabetes are at risk of diabetic retinopathy (disease of the eye that eventually leads to blindness if not controlled. It rarely shows symptoms until it's in its final stage, whereby permanent blindness occurs). An optician's job is to check them annually to keep an eye out (no pun intended) for such issues. Yes, there's corona, but it doesn't mean these patients can be neglected.

Yes as you are part of the health system and that is classed as key workers.
