I am not asking for myself. I am asking for a hypothetical person called John (so you are not giving me medical advice). John has been going on gaming marathons over the weekend, playing for 6-8 hours at a time without moving about because of the Coronavirus lockdown.

Now, John has a very severe pain in his left calf muscle and the area is hot and swollen. The symptoms and onset and near identical to that of DVT (deep vain thrombosis, a clot in the deep vain in the legs). John's GP is closed due to Coronavirus and his local A&E department is overloaded with Coronavirus patients, so his priority isn't high enough to be seen.

Luckily, he has some aspirin at home, although this does act as a blood thinner, John has read this isn't standard treatment for DVT. His local pharmacy won't sell him Warfarin without a prescription. He is unsure whether it's even a good idea to take Aspirin.

Now, John is in a state of constant panic. he doesn't even know if that rapid heart beat is caused by his panic or a pulmonary embolism arising from his DVT. By the time his local A&E department will see him, he is likely already dead.

Can anyone here help John?

If you seriously suspect a pulmonary embolism, ring 999. it is a life threatening condition and it is high priority. Do this now.

DVT PE is quite a high priority. Better to get it checked out (and get a quick cure) than panic and potentially let it get worse.

Are you nuts? A blood clot in the lungs can kill you. You need to go to the hospital. Aspirin will not help.
