Hi, I’ve received offers from RVC,Harper Adams and Middlesex for veterinary nursing and I’m not sure which I should accept. RVC is best ranked yet I prefer the harper Adams campus . Can anyone help ?

Ive chosen Rvc as my firm and Middlesex as my insurance. I haven’t heard much about Harper Adams but for my Rvc is a no brainer. This is because the university is built for Veterinary and has really good facilities. Middlesex was only a fill in but as a comparison to rvc their facilities are little to none

Yeah I’ve heard so much about the RVC facilities, however the fact that harper Adams is located on a farm with 3000 animals has captivated me . Still haven’t made up my mind about it yet however. Middlesex the facilities aren’t great and they do it in 3 years rather than 4 for some reason.

At Rvc the extra year is to do research as they actually qualify you as a vet nurse in your third year. Im assuming this is because they want to make the course less packed. Rvc have the biggest referral hospital in Europe and is surrounded by farms as it is in a rural area. However your heart seems set on harper adams

Yeah I feel like I’d be a better fit in harper Adams but am not rushing the decision because I’ll be there for the next 4 years so want to do all my research in advance .

Hi there!

I'm certainly biased because we are in partnership with Harper Adams for the Vet school, but by going to Harper you also get the added bonus of Keele's campus and facilities too! I assume from your love of Harper that you'll choose to live on their campus, but it'll be such a unique experience to experience the 2 campuses! Keele is a GORGEOUS campus with 625 acres of land (and a bunch of animals too!) we're also a specialist for medicine (no1 in England) which means that you'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities for your lab work/teaching as well as the obvious practical experience and opportunities at Harper! ☺️

The fact that we are a new vet school means that you'll have the incredible opportunity to be one of the very first of our vet school graduates too which is pretty cool!

Hope this helps😊

Hi. Just wanted to clarify that I don't think vet nursing students will have access to Keele as they won't be students of the vet school? But they will get to use the cool new facilities at Harper and can train alongside future vets and vet physios so the networking is good. and as the OP says, Harper has thousands of animals to gain experience with.

If you are happy that everywhere you are considering will give you the course you want and the same career opportunities, you are right to be thinking about the campus and the wider experience. I know Harper feels like home to me. Sounds like you have had a chance to visit and see and "feel" it for yourself which is great because of course it has had to shut for now.

Caspero Hi there,

Apologies you are absolutely right - there won't be access to the Keele facilities (still getting used to the new vet school haha)!! Very true about the networking opportunities though, it should provide some really great experience!

Agric. with Animals. Love it - I don't think being somewhere where you are just a face in the crowd or a number would have suited me. I love the community at Harper. And being so close to the animals rather than having to travel to them. Gives you more time to focus on the things that matter.

@Caspero
That’s exactly what I was thinking that I wouldn’t really fit in at RVC and really liked the idea of being at harper Adams instead
