Where in England should I study for my law degree + advice?

I am currently studying for my Scottish highers and am doing my advanced higher next year. I am currently thinking of applying for;
Cambridge
LSE
Warwick
Durham
Leeds
Do these seem like good options? When writing my personal statement what should I do/ what advice is important? Also, any advice for the CLT and LNAT? I'm a bit lost if I am honest... I am worried I would never get into most of these unis.

Yes they are good, especially good when it's not all lnat unis, but I suggest one safe option at least. You could talk about anything from reading the news to further reading. I want to study law at uni, wanting to apply for 2021 entry and I could recommend you some things or tell you what I've done. For the LNAT and CLT, read on recent news often till the day of the tests. For the LNAT, dont do the workshops but maybe invest in a book in amazon or arbito but it depends on you because there have been people who have done well on it with free resources. I'm sure you'll get in and if you are wary about that statement, then at least you'll get into one and you can always reapply for next year :h:
If you are Scottish, definitely consider applying in Scotland because then you won't have to pay University fees

At places like Durham, Warwick & Leeds, you are likely to get LLB offers as long as your grades or predicted grades meet their entry requirements. Durham will also require a reasonable score in the LNAT but non an exceptionally high one.

Cambridge is obviously different to that and I suggest you ask for advice on the Cambridge sub forum. LSE will look closely at all aspects of your application such as GCSE results, the subjects you have chosen, your LNAT multiple choice score (they don't read the essay) your personal statement and reference.

Assuming you stand a realistic chance at Cambridge and your school are encouraging you to apply there, I feel that they are good choices. You have a mix of very competitive options (Cambridge & LSE) and less competitive options on your list.

I am Scottish, however, I intend to practice law in England so it simpler for me to get a degree in England as opposed to Scots Law and then conversion

What kind of lawyer do you want to be?

That has been very helpful. I am hoping I have a decent chance on the LNAT as I will probably work pretty hard before it with the help of my lawyer parents...
RE GCSEs (or my equivalent of N5/Highers I should have pretty decent grades fingers crossed,) I got 7As at N5 and aim for As in higher so that should, in theory, be sufficient. However, I'm sure that I will need to make sure I can get good predicted grades next year.)
Yes, I am assuming as Leeds follow a more Scottish system, that could act as a safety option as I will have above the average accepted requirements.
Thanks so much, much appreciated.

I would also be 2021 entry (just like to be organised) so maybe I will see you there haha...
I am very interested in current affairs so hopefully, that will stand me in good stead then. Leeds take into account both sets of Scottish exams as opposed to most English unis which just look at next years, meaning that I should have above the average grades for acceptance, so I am hoping that it can act as more of a safe choice, still a very nice uni too...
Thanks very much for your response

Haha, I went to the Leeds open day and actually really liked it, which I was not expecting. Even the halls were nice. Wasn't aware nice halls were a thing...

Tough question, I am not 100% sure but probably between Banking, Competition and Media/Entertainment. ETI sounds interesting but its what my dad does and he's managed to dissuade me.

I meant do you want to be a barrister or solicitor or something else? Ohhh that sounds interesting. I haven't heard of competition but sounds interesting as well. You have a lot of time to find out since you can specialise later on  Good luck

No, I haven't. I will probably try and visit them by the end of this year. I was planning to visit the Summer LSE and Cambs open day, but unsurprisingly they probably won't happen anymore. My cousin is planning to go to Cambs starting September though so hopefully, I can just go and see her and she can show me around. Why won't your dad let you consider Leeds? It is a Russel Group and has high employment rates...

Do you have any idea what you want to specialise in? Competition sounds really interesting to me as it is fairly economics-based, however, one of the key reasons I am interested is I like the idea of going on investigations for the Competition and Markets Authority lol which I am sure would rarely be the reality

That sounds like a good plan. You still have autumn to go and visit them (hopefully). I suggest you have a plan for Cambridge like what colleges you want to go to first so you can narrow your choice down and research about them so you can get most of the day. Apparently its a bad place and doesn't want me to go to a place where I'll be far away and alone with no one I know.

Maybe contract but that's for future me to find out. Btw I asked what route you wanted to go because barrister yes if you dont do a law degree, you have to do a conversion and that's the same for solicitor expect in 2021 there's a new exam for them, where any degree is allowed with no conversion needed and it could be something you could research further.

Haha, has he been to Leeds? Everyone is ridiculously friendly and it probably has the best atmosphere of any uni I have been to. The city is any big city, it doesn't actually have particularly high crime either. It is all classic Yorkshire lovely people in my experience. Where about are you? It isn't too far away from me, only three hours to Edinburgh by train. Yes, I definitely need to look more at colleges, I have no clue!

I mean the vast vast majority of lawyers are/become solicitors, so most likely that. My mother is in Corporate (mainly contracts), it is definitely interesting in my opinion although I know a lot of people can find it quite dry.

No my dad is just stereotypically racist and I'm working hard to help with work on that but it cant be helped when handling bad experiences. I'm glad that even your safe option sounds amazing for you, which is rare sometimes. I'm from Newcastle so I think 2/3 hours by train. You should also look at the application process because some apply to colleges strategically (idk how tho) because you don't want to leave me in the pool and hoped to be picked, if your first choice doesn't work out especially if its competitive, but then again you might be a person who would risk it for a college, due to preferences so looking at the colleges is very important
