The idea in bold is what I would recommend, maybe pick a more upmarket club than your usual haunts which would make it seem a lavish treat.

one of my cousins hired out a tour boat on the river (obviously if you dont have a river near you this wouldnt work) and we had music etc. It was really good and different from the ordinary 'party'. It was big too so there were plenty of people.!
