If you can determine the number which you raise 2 to in order to obtain 8, then your answer is just the reciprocal of that since you're going the other way.

I suggest you review basics of log's
If you think about it
example 2^2 = 4
2^3 = 8
Now , sqrt 4 = 2 this is the same as 4^1/2

Now think about 8 to which power the answer will be 2
