Hi, so I'm starting my lit coursework soon and I'm just beginning to look at pre & post 1900 books . I'd quite like to choose books based around feminism and effects of society & social construct. Because of this, as a post-1900 book I am considering 'The Wasp Factory', it's highly rated and from what I've read it has a strong focus on the mental construct of gender, heavily influenced by society. However, I have no idea what I'd like to do for my pre-1900 book. I was initially considering a Jane Austen book but none of them really seemed compatible with 'The Wasp Factory'.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
