Using student finance for some but not all of a degree

Hi,

Is it possible for me to potentially fund the first year of my undergraduate degree privately, and then apply for student loans in later years of the course?

Thanks

HI there!

I don't see why this would be a problem, when possible, I advise that you speak to Student Finance but I do think that this would be acceptable. You apply for Student Fiance year by year so if you funded your first year yourself it wouldn't affect Student Finance, you would just have to inform your university and arrange a payment plan.

Again I would contact the relevant people to be crystal clear on the situation

Hope this helps!

Hi Sophie, it's fine to do this. When we assess your eligibility for funding you will need to be eligible from the 1st day of the 1st academic year of your course (not from the second year).
Thanks, Isaac.
