Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between paramedic science and paramedic practice degrees at university? Iβm looking to apply next year then maybe go onto a graduate medicine course, which is best? Thanks!

Hi there,
Typically, paramedic practice is for people already working as a paramedic who, for whatever reason, don't have the academic qualification and paramedic science is the route that is now seen as the main requirement. It may be possible to do a three year BSc paramedic practice with no experience, however there would be no added benefit or difference to doing paramedic science.
To be on the safe side when choosing a course, the HCPC (health and care professions council) have a list of recognised, accredited courses on their website. Doing a course from this list should mean it meets the required standard and will give you the best chance of getting into work/further study.
I asked this question to Edge Hill as the title of their course is paramedic practice but their answer was that there was no difference at all, just the name of the course itself was different.
