Hey, glad someone replied.. lol.. Im going to study the FdA in music practice.. what is it like as a college? ooh and did you live in the accomadation - southwell lodge?
thanks you for your reply.. Im sure I will make new friends when I arrive.. Im coming all the way from shropshire, so quite a way away.. lol. Did you have any sort of freshers ball?
Um... I think there was something, but I didn't go to it. They had one for over 14s and one for over 16s/18s (I can't remember which) But there'll be signs up and stuff.
I'm guessing you've been to Norwich and seen the college then?
ye, I went for my interview and audition.. I loved it.. great city.. Im really looking foward to studying there.. Ive been told theyre redeveloping the whole campus.. £175m in the next year or so.. what did you study?
Yeah, they're planning on pulling the whole place down to redevelop it. Ambitious!
Norwich is a lovely city. It's one of the reasons that I applied to the UEA. I love the city and I didn't want to leave. plus, the uni had a great course going for me.
At college, I did English lang and lit, politics and psychology. I did AS law in my first year too.
ooh cool... I hear CCN has just been awarded to teach the BA hons in music, otherwise i would have been moving upto the UEA after the 2 years to do the top up degree..
Is there much of a night life/ good social scene in norwich? I didnt have a chance to have a look around the city whilst I was there.. pity really.. I havn't got a clue where Id be if I had a walk around.. lol..
Umm.... there's a few clubs in the city: Mercy and the Waterfront seem to be the main ones. I've been to the Waterfront before, they do lots of gigs there for pretty cheap (saw Elliot Minor for a tenner). There's also the LCR at the UEA which holds gigs too. There's some other clubs around near riverside but I don't know them that well. There's lots of pubs and restaurants as well id you're into that sort of thing. Plenty of coffeeshops too.
Yeah, the Student Union is pretty good. They're pretty helpful (unless, like me, you know someone working there who is deliberately unhelpful just to annoy you ) There's a decent student advice centre as well.
And that's okay, I'm always happy to talk about the city
oh cool.. what's your opinion of the college? lol.. sorry just trying to get a few peoples opinions of it before I start
I don't actually go there but from what I've seen I haven't heard any real complaints. I go to a smaller college in a nearby town and in my experience CCN is a lot less friendly. In my Sixth Form everyone knows each other, everyone gets involved in charity things and says hello in the street but when I go to meet my friends at college it's like going to a University because you have to go through a main reception desk and it's all very impersonal. That's not to say it isn't a great place to study. I mean I am in love with Norwich, I've lived nearby my whole life and Norwich is just an amazing city.
If you are going to CCN for a degree you might find yourself being seperated from the BTEC people and it might be harder to make friends and find an actual community like you would at a University.
If you want to ask anything about Norfolk or Norwich like travel, shopping, accomodation, areas of the city go ahead. I'd be happy to help.

woo ok ye that would be a great help to me.. I havnt got a clue about my way around norwich. Are there any Tesco supermarkerts/asda or any other supermarkets etc near the city centre?
Ive heard a bit about shopping in norwich, like it was voted the 5th best place to shop in the UK.. just wondered what other shops were good in norwich.. like clubs, bars, restaurants... Is there any quiet pubs? lol.. by that i mean a pub that isnt always crowded if you just wanted to go for a quiet drink?
