Have you tried sleeping in a room with a mini-fridge? They're unbearably noisy. You'll just end up putting it in the kitchen and trust me, the fridge will be big enough. I was in Hermit's Croft and 5 of use shared 1 fridge freezer with no problems so if there's even fewer people in your flat there'll be even more space each. If you bring a mini fridge and insist on keeping all your stuff in it you'll just look like you don't trust your flatmates with your food which won't encourage happy bonding. However, if I'd been in Pollock and had to share 1 fridge between 18 people I would have been sorely tempted to get a mini fridge - how is there enough room for milk, never mind anything else!

True about the pets - my friend managed to keep her cat in the flat for a week and the cleaners were seen stroking and purring at her!

Ohhh, don't tell me this, it'll just put ideas into my head...

If I get kicked out of my accommodation in the next year now, I'm blaming all of you :-P

I'm in Pollock, I was well looking forwards to having my own wee kettle and supply of mugs etc for cups of tea/cupasoups any time of the day then I read the contract ! :frown:

What about storing bikes in your room as well, I know there are bike sheds available but there's no chance I could, even if I kept it well away from any doors/windows/fire escape routes? Could I sneak it in?

I imagine you could keep your bike in your room, but it would take up most of the spare space, and it would be a pain and a half getting it up the stairs. I don't know about pollock, but in hermits croft the bike room was only accessible with a key and then you could lock up your bike. Only the people with bikes had keys (I think there was like a £10 deposit) so it was pretty secure.

Remember your cleaner must have access to your room once a week, and will report the presence of the bike to his or her supervisor.

The procedure for the storage of bicycles in Pollock Halls is as michaela_banana described for Hermit's Croft.

Coolio thanks! Best not risk it I guess! And by the sounds of it keeping it in your room would be no benefit whatsoever

In catered accommodation you've got no chance (simply not enough space and cleaners will report the presence of the fridge). In self-catered it's unlikely anyone will check your room - but unless you're engaged in a major feud with flatmates I don't see why you'd need one there. Sleeping in a room with a fridge is pretty sucky anyway - I would just leave it.
