Is a nephrologist a good career

Hi,
I was wondering if it is?

Someone who studies kidneys? It seems very specific to me, and describing a career as “good” is extremely vague. Can you give some more insight on your question?

Depends, are you very intellectual but also really keen on weighing patients, calculating fluid balances, and all day ward rounds?

(Get into medical school first then start thinking about your specialty).

of course - being well credited is something you should never worry about when being a doctor.
A nephrologist is a Doctor/Physician who specialise in treating patients with disease of their kidneys.
The best way to explore further is to arrange for an hospital attachment after your GCSE exam. Please noted you probably need to apply well in advance as placements for hospital attachment are usually limited and got filled up quite quickly.

What do you mean?

A more serious answer to your question is that it's a good specialty if you like acute medical work, having long term patients, managing multiple conditions, unusual pathologies, and thinking about physiology and pharmacology. Fundamentally you need to be interested in internal medicine and the working life of a physician (which a lot of doctors don't like).

It will be very hard for you to make a decision about any of these things while you're at school so it's better to just wait and see what you think once you're actually in the profession :yy:
