I'm beginning OCR history a level in September and would like a head start, e.g. have a good understanding of the context. What are the best documentaries to watch and is there anything else you would recommend doing to prepare? GCSEs are cancelled so I have a lot of time on my hands. Thanks.

Ahhh, is that the 1894-1941 module?
There's a book I got for my coursework on Russia that I never actually read until after A-level, it's called The Last Tsar by Edvard Radzinsky. When you study this period you may repeatedly wonder "oh my god how could he be that thick" and I think it provides a nice perspective.

Heyy so I don't do A-levels but I studied 98 years of russia (1855 - 1953) in the last couple months. The videos that my teacher keeps showing us is by StarMedia. It's a russian production company and they have a channel on youtube. They've dubbed their videos into english and I think episodes 7,8 and 9 of 'The Romanovs' cover Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II. Hope this helps
