Gambling

I don’t k ow why I’m writing this on here however, I guess I’m looking for some closure. I have a bad gambling addition. I’m always playing the online slots hoping for big wins my stakes are at £2 and find myself depositing £100 at a time and sometimes when I’m on a loosing streak and chasing my bet the can multiply im completely hooked it’s like I go into transe and the game controls me. I am only 20 and I am going to start uni in September, I have a -£1000 in my overdraft I am earning money in the meantime and want to to save money for uni but I can’t seem to stop. It almost feels like the games are my best friends but I feel so depressed and in despair once I have been on a loosing streak. Has anyone been through anything simular? Any tips? I know it’s not bad as others but it’s bad enough for it to be a problem in my life.
Think about how all the money your spending on these gambling sites benefits you. Your spending hours working to be using that money to gamble. Your not gaining anything out of it. Your just loosing out.

Think about it this way. Imagine working an hour for £8 lets say. Is the £ your usin to gamble worth that hour of work?

You are completely right and I try telling myself this every time I gamble but there’s always this little voice telling me it’s okay to do it and today could be the day you win big. The rush an adrenaline keeps me coming back I think. It needs to stop its being going on for a couple years now.

That’s the sole purpose of gambling. It messes wit ppls minds. They think at the end of this they will gain a whole pile of ££ but really and truly they dont notice how much it’s killing their lifestyle.

Gambling is all just a game. Making ppl think they can get all this hard cash. The jokes all on you tbh. The ppl that create these sites are laughing at u. Laughing cuz your stupid, sorry I’m just tryna explain it to u.

Anytime, I fully just deeped how I said everything😅oops well I’m glad u understood and can possibly use my advice to your benefit x
if was me id get an internet blocker and work out how it could be impossible to access it, talk to bank about some sort of limits. if it was really bad then get rid of devices entirely which could access gambling. so swap smartphone for feature phone and laptop for the pcs at the library. might be a pain in the arse but at least got more time not wasting all this money
Past a point you just need to walk away from it, all the self bans and crap won't do a jot unless you really want to stop.

You are being taken for a sucker, companies spend lots of money devising the system to be as appealing and video game like as possible.

Personally I won really big over a football season and got arrogant, I was playing with 'winnings' but getting more and more used to throwing down £500-1000 a game, and eventually, sooner or later, you're just chasing losses. Came to a head when i burned through my winnings and thrugh not paying attention then blew a weeks wages in a onner...I could replace the money, but it gave me a massive sense of shame that i'd been so bloody stupid and sweated away 40 hours for nothing.. That was all it took for me to never touch it again and that was 4-5 years now.

I always liked the old fashioned way it was shown in Casino, You have the high rolling baccarat player who thinks he's top cat, wins big and tried to leave...Then you have Sam the casino guy pulling all the wee unseen strings to bring the guy back with total confidence and win the money back, because he knows it'll work, it's all a system.

Hit the nail on the head there. I’d hate to think of all the money I’ve lost in the past must be up around 5k. I guess all I can say is I have no bills to pay I love at home my family is relatively wealthy and I am working. As long as I stick to not gambling the shame and guilt will disappear I hope. Thanks for the help, it’s nice to relate.

It fades, but just like anger, shame can be a powerful force for change, use it. Make sure you never feel like that again, instead of trying to top it up.

I'm really glad I got out early when it was 'disposable' income, fk being one of these wretched people where it consumes their life and they end up losing everything and everyone, the sort of folk who end up pawning their kids toys and stuff :/

Your right mate, you’ve definitely help me put things into perspective. Thanks a lot:-)
This is why you should not see gambling as a source of income. For me, gambling was and always will be a hobby.
